engraved ping scottsdale anser beni and engraved ping becu anser 2 faq's

I have two engraved ping putters that I have been unable to find any info about online. one is a becu anser 2 pat pend with a JAL engraving on the sole. the other is a nos ping scottsdale anser with tpc sawgrass engraved on the sole along with a ts1 35 inches sticker on the sole. thanks in advance to anyone out there that can help, Jeff

What is it you want to know?….. the Anser is Berylium nickel BeNi and the anser2 is Beryllium copper BeCU……. The Anser will be worth more than the 2.

I know one is a nickel anser and one is a copper anser 2. what I am really looking for is info on the engraving on the sole of each putter and if the engravings make any difference on value. the copper anser 2 is JAL and nickel scottsdale anser is TPC sawgrass with a sticker on the sole that reads TS1 35 inches. I am surprised that corky said the nickel anser is more valuable because the copper anser 2 is a pat pending model that I have found little info on except that it was made much earlier around 1983 and the nickel scottsdale anser was supposedly made much later in the late 1990's, I hope. thanks to anyone who can give me more info on either putter, with or without the engravings. PING used to do laser engraving for accounts that requested their club on it or for corporations who wanted to have promotional items to offer. These are examples of both cases.

At one point, SOME club engraved putters were seen as collectible. I don't think it is as prevalent as it once was. Pro-Am putters were also engraved and were in the same category as the fancy club putters, collectible in the late 90's.

The copper one you have would actually be worth MORE, if it did not have Japan Air Lines' logo on the sole. Not a ton of value, but in the past it was a real keeper, that "PAT PEND" model. In the 90's, Bobby Grace would pay between $175-275 for Pat Pend Anser 2's, because a certain player with the initials Tiger Woods was rolling that model and that made it a big collector's piece. He would pay his rate here in the states and then sell the putters to his Asian and European clients at a little profit. Win-win situation.

But, back to yours. They are both super nice pieces, but the logo adds nothing to the Anser 2 and I don't think that it adds much, if any to the BeNi Scottsdale. The cool factor is there, but the $$$ factor is minimal.

Just my thoughts over a few years accumulating items that I thought had value but in some cases, was proven wrong.

I don’t know what the Tsi 35 inch sticker means but Ping applied it to many putters.
In fact, another WRXer had a thread about the sticker but I don’t think the thread established the meaning or purpose of the sticker.
I recall buying new cast stainless Pings, at retail, with the sticker on them and not in your model.
I’d say you’ve acquired a new old stock putter?

Great post and spot on. These putters have some value despite rather than because of the logos. They both look in excellent/as new condition although the BeNi Scottsdale remake seems to have a flat lie as the hosel is a bit slanted. It'd be worth more to someone with links to Sawgrass perhaps!

The only logo Anser I can think of that is worth more because of said logo is the Portland Championship MgBrz Anser - it was an accidental later dalehead release with a red circular logo on the face.

Just caught one in the bay that has the same sticker - also an engraved tournament memento - whatever correlation it may imply.Still somewhere in usps limbo though so I don’t know much more than I can see in the pics. I won the auction at 42$, so it would seem in this case that it is worth a little less than the going rate for a pristine Anser 4.
