Home Putting Practice - Yardstick + Pelz

Recommended Posts

I've been doing the yardstick putting drill at home for a while, but the issue is that my floors are not level. I can find a few spots where the break isn't too bad, but it's not flat. Now I'm wondering if I'm drilling bad movements into my stroke?

Would the Pelz putting tutor be a better aid for me since it's not as reliant on slope? Thanks

Can you find a straight uphill/downhill area? You should be able to, you're only looking for a few feet.

I've used both these aids.  I like the putting stick more, as it allows you to see a true roll for about 3 1/2 feet.  The tutor is nice on a practice green.  I feel like indoors with the tutor, you'll get in the habit of just hitting it hard, which holds the line easier and allow you to get in between the marbles easier.

This putt stick has a mirror and level on it, so makes it easier to find a spot indoors where you'll get real feedback.  But it is costly now.

If I made a point to not hit the putting tutor hard, do you think it would be good indoors? And will be nice to bring to the practice green.

I'd say it may be usable, but not good.  It wasn't built for indoor use.  There are spikes on the bottom to hold it in place on the ground.  So it's hard to keep it level on carpet or even on a putting mat.  But with that being said, I'm sure you could find a way to get some use out of it indoors.  But most likely the plate will sit too high and you'll feel like you'll need to hover the putter (even on a real green, the plate can get hit on the stroke, which is why it's not my favorite aid).

My #1 is that putt-stick.  It's easy to use indoor because of the built in level.

If I had to do something else, I'd get a putt matt and just do gate drills as an alternative.

Oh thanks, I did not realize it's elevated. I guess using a yard stick with the slightest bit of break is better than nothing.

Early in hand photos of the new GT2 models t the truck.  As soon as they show up on the range in player's bags we'll get some better from the top photos and hopefully some comparison photos against the last model.
