Soft stepping Axiom iron shafts

Looking for anyone's experience or thoughts on soft stepping Axiom iron shafts.  Playing them in 105s soft stepped 1x and curious if any went and soft stepped them 2x?

Or maybe a better question would be why does my PW (CBX4 44*) feel better than all my other irons.  For context my PW is a short iron profile tipped 1/2" (standard tipping would be 1") Installed it in my CBX4 and playing length/end of grip length came out to 36.25".  Which is 1/2" over stock spec of 35.75".  I do have a Jumbomax Tour standard grip (grip weight is 41g) installed at the moment and swing weight came out to D5.  Not sure why this club feels the best.  It has a bit more of a kick to it them my other irons.

Anyways just seeing what others thoughts were as I sit here bored on this 4th waiting to take my 3 dogs for our annual evening car ride during the fireworks.  They absolutely hate them and that is what we do each year to soothe their anxiety over em.

Normally for something like that I'd just recommend going down to R flex - but that's not an option with the 105's.    So if you want more kick, going x2 (or even x3) is about the only option you have.

 

Did you measure the raw head weight before you installed it?

 

Is the rest of the set also +1/2" and ~D5 (with the same grips)?

 

Did you measure the BBGM of the CBX and compare it to the rest of the irons?  That can also effect the performance of the shaft.  If it was a bit longer, that will add a bit more softness.
