Cleveland CG12 DSG RTG+

The Cleveland CG12 SDG RTG+ Wedge combines classic design with advanced manufacturing processes to offer a scoring club that's as easy to hit as it is on the eyes.

Features:

  • ZIP Grooves: Breakthrough milling technology creates 25% bigger grooves with pristine edges for increased "ZIP" and shot consistency, especially from poor lies
  • Dynamic Sole Grind: Two sole surfaces increase versatility — square faced and full shots will play like a standard bounce wedge, open faced shots play like a low bounce wedge (easily hitting high and soft touch shots)
  • RTG+ Finish: Oil finish slowly wears over time causing mild surface rust for enhanced texture and glare reduction.

This wedge is great! Even though I just bought the CG12 56* gunmetal SW two months ago, when this wedge cam out I was curious. I like to play the soft chip with the face open, so I thought this DSG wedge would be better. So, I bought one of these and aboslutely love it. I just got it this week and haven't played with it in a round, but practiced with it at the range and around the chipping green.

My biggest concerns were if full swing shots with this SW would be the same as my regular CG12. From what I could tell on the range - there was no difference.

I really like how this club seems easy to just pinch the ball off the turf and doesn't seem to "dig" if you catch it a little heavy. That was one problem I had with the CG12, I tended to "stab" it a couple times around the green. And obviously, its super easy to open it up and flop a shot. It seemed easier out of the sand too. Plus, I love the RTG finish - my old SW (before the first CG12) was the 900 RTG, so I feel at home again!

Great club!

Just back from the London golf show where I was looking for and purchased one of these wedges in 60 degrees, as I have always found the flange on my Vokey 60 to be a little too wide and I tended to sometimes skip off the turf therefore not allowing me to get under the ball properly. I had 588 rtg's before switching to my Vokeys but can't really say why I switched, I suppose that I was a victim of advertising!!

I then came home via my local driving range and WOW if that session is anything to go by I can't wait for my next round. I can honestly say that for the first time ever I was getting a little action on range balls. I have found this 45-55yd shot with the RTG that if you lay the club open just a little and swing from shoulder to shoulder the ball lands, hops right once then stops dead. I couldn't believe it and ended up getting another basket of balls, I was hitting a couple of shots with other clubs and then coming back to the Cleveland to prove that it was no fluke. It just kept repeating the same shot over and over again, even now I am sitting here with a grin on my face at the thought of me at the range like a schoolboy giggling at the shots I was turning out.

In case you haven't realised by now my advice is buy this sucker and enjoy!!

Hi - I am reopening this topic as I just got a 58 degree version of this wedge. I like it so far, although have only hit a few indoors. The dynamic sole grind gives me another shot option when I open the face of the club about 45deg. The bounce is low enough to create a flop shot with or without wrist action. It is exactly what I was looking for.

I notice no one commented on the shaft option - with Cleveland's own "traction" shaft as the stock shaft. I wouldn't have gone for this (would have tried to find a 588 dsg +rtg instead) but I also got the cg14 recently and was surprised how much i liked the shaft on full shots. I have read it is softer tipped and stiffer butt - which seems to give the shot a lot more whip. I loved it and felt like i could really crack shots without having to swing too hard. Has anyone else an opinion on the shaft - or more info? Cheers

Late review... but why not:

I got the 58 and 64. Paired w/ the CG12 BP 46 and 52.

I think they are super wedges once you get used to the extra bounce / perceived bounce. I find them superior than my previous 54 and 60 CG10's from the sand, and they are spin machines off the green. I am not a super spinner, so the extra little check you get on short chips from awkward lies is very useful. Have not noticed them eating up my balls on the course too much, but they do take a good meal outa range balls!

Try them, they are quite nice!
