does anything spin more than the one platinum?

Admittedly i haven't been playing much competetive golf lately and so i have been comparing the platinums more to mid priced balls but i find the amount of spin i get with the platinums is staggering. i'm getting 40 yard pitches backing up 10 feet which is pretty unheard of for me, so i was just wondering are there any higher spinning balls out there at the moment? i generally use tp reds and pro v1s as well but the platinums are comfortably outspinning those too..

I forgot what magazine did a comparison but the amount of spin generated by a full wedge shot on a Platinum is unsurpassed.

Golf Magazine I believe.... and from what I have read and what little testing I have done with the NOP I would agree, it spins the most.

Golf Magazine (February 2008 - "Revealed: The Best Ball For You").

 

They tested 54 models -- and here is the spin off a wedge (Golf Labs preset the robot to swing a sand wedge to a 76mph swing speed, 80 mph ball speed, 38.5* launch angle and 10,500 rpm):

 

Top:

Nike One Platinum - 13,451 rpm

Titleist Pro V1x - 12,299 rpm

Srixon Z-URC - 12,250 rpm

Etc....

 

(Titleist ProV1 - 11,914 rpm)

(TaylorMade TP Red - 11,872 rpm)

I was going to say that if anything spins more than a NOP we would have to club up to factor in the back spin. I spun a 6 iron back with a NOP and I have NEVER done that with ANY other ball.

For the record however, the Nike One Platinum was the absolute worst in distance for low swing speed players. (I realize this isn't part of this spin post -- but it is interesting to note).

 

Robot set to 90 mph driver swing speed, 137 mph ball speed, 13.75* launch angle, 2,900 rpm:

 

Worst -- total (carry and roll) distance:

Nike One Platinum - 239.1 yards

Srixon Z-URC 247.2

Titleist ProV1 - 249.0

Titleist Pro V1x - 250.4

TaylorMade TP Red - 258.6

 

-- I left out a bunch of balls on the list, which fall between those listed above, and just posted the balls of interest; but the Nike One Platinum was at the very bottom, for low swing speed players, of all 52 tested from the magazine --

 

If your swing speed is higher however it does perform better.

Swing speed at 105 it travels 283.6. While the Titleist ProV1 goes 287.9 and the ProV1x goes 290.0.

 

So you have to compress it well.
