Mactec Driver shaft options??

Stock is terrible, need help here!

Hey Guys,

I just picked up a Mactec from my local shop for a steal but the stock quadra actions shaft is absolute garbage. Has anybody got any recommendations for me as to what I should re-shaft with?? I swing about 110mph head speed and I hit a really low ball but usually around 310yrds. I have tried the ProLaunch and I hate the feel but I love the Prototype Comp NT.

Firstly, I do not mean to be sarcastic and/or skeptical; however, 310-yards off the tee puts you in Tiger and John Daly league in the top ten of the PGA tour average in distance. Great job that is great distance off the tee.

Early in the year I got the Macgregor Mactec driver at a semi-steal (I play the M565 V-Foil irons and I love them). I really wanted to like this driver, but the stiff shaft was excessively whippy for me. Overall, I was very disappointed. It felt fraudulent.

For me, it was not even close to my Cleveland Comp or Fusion FT-3 in consistent distance or control. I hit the Cleveland around 240 and the Fusion around 255 (with an occasional 275-plus bomb). I did hit one drive with the Mactec 300 yards, but mostly I hit 220-yard weak pop ups to the right with it.

I am no expert on shafts; hence, I cannot offer much advice, my FT-3 has a stiff NVS, which feels right for me, and the Cleveland has a stiff stock shaft that sometimes balloons on me.

rubic note: Oddly enough, the Mactec 3-wood is a very good fairway club.
