Slowed down swing, and ball is pushing right!

Over the last year I have slowed my swing and the ball seems to be going farther right (either fade or push as I am right handed) than it has in the past. I have Tru Temper S300's in my irons, but my swing speed has gone from about 100 mph down to about 85 mph. Will a switch to regular shafts help? I have heard that the softer the shaft, the more the tendency to draw the ball. Any advice would be appreciated before I go and pull the shafts. Thanks.

a softer shaft will probably help, also make sure you are accelerating thru the ball

Maybe this will work for you, maybe not, but this happens in my swing when I get the fades

In my swing, when I try to slow my tempo or lower my swing speed, I tend to steer the ball. This comes from me not releasing the club, instead holding on to the downswing and leading with my hands resulting in a high fade that always comes up short.

My swing thoughts are:

1. swing in a barrel: Some players move all over the place when swinging, and others say they remain still. I try to stay nearly still, and feel as if I am in a 55 gallon drum. Meaning I try to coil up as much as I can around my core. Hard to explain in text, but a drill I use is hitting balls and while finishing with my left heel on the ground making sure I roll to onto the outside of my left foot and not up onto the balls of my feet.

2. Release: Regular shafts may help, but i think if you have played stiff shafts for a while you won't like feedback of the regular shaft and it may lead to less feel for where the clubface is in the swing. I fought a pull hook for a while (my natural ball flight is a draw, but I can overcook it at times), and my remedy was to slow down. In doing this, it lead to a high right fade and loss of distance. I was trying to steer the ball and not releasing the club at the bottom because I thought that releasing the club was going to lead to me turning over my wrists and hitting the ball left again. Not entirely true, you still need to release the wrists on the left hand so the club face can return to square. Don't turn the club over with the right hand, only release with the left. The drill here, tee the ball up, use an iron and only hit balls with your left had. If you don't release, it will go right. If you release to early and cast the club from the top, it will go left.
