skycaddie sg4 help

don't really know what to do here...

okay so i recently got a used skycaddie sg4 for free from a mutual friend who didn't want it anymore (i'm assuming he's rich since he can just give away $350 gps systems). anyways, when i connected it to my computer it started charging, so i know it works but when i downloaded the software and tried to use the directconnect, it just kept telling me that it can't locate it, but i know it's connected properly because it's charging. could it possibly be because the original owner used a pc to download all the stuff onto it and i'm using a mac? i tried the "transfer ownership" option on the website but again, it would only work through directconnect. i looked up help through customer support but there was nothing on it that related to this problem. has anyone had this occur and what was done to fix it? is there anyway i can start fresh and completely reboot it so it would start out like it was brand new?

I had this problem on a Dell running XP. All of the new USB software downloads from the Skygolf website, but it wouldn't sync with the device. I had to run the Wizard for installing the "driver" for the software, too. Once I did that, it recognized the SG4 immediately.

 

Don't know if this will help you with your Mac, but maybe...
