Looks like Walmart has this on clearance for 199.99, free shipping to a store. You could use the rebate on this too probably .. might have to pay tax though.

http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=8402681

This is down to 180.87 now, and looks like the rebate should work.

Anyone use this scout 1000? It seems like the difference from the tour v2 is that it doesn't have the pinseeker mode, is that right? Can it give me multiple distances on one scan?

The Scout and the V2 are the smae thing, they market the V2 as having "pinseeker", the Scout has the same technology but it is called "Bullseye". They just market it differently to the golfers and hunter. It does give multiple yardgaes in one scan, the Bullseye mode picks up the closest reading that you are aiming at. I have found I am good up to about 200-215 yards, after that I am a little hit or miss. I have shot flags at 230-240.

Awesome, thanks so much for the info, i think i may pick this up...

And if it's over 230 and you asking yourself if you need to go for it.....you probably should lay up. :swoon2:

Hilarious.

I just picked up one from Walmart for $200. I've played two rounds with it and taken it to the driving range. I've ranged flags at 240 yards. Under 200 yards, I've had no trouble hitting the flags very quickly. I've ranged trees out to 550 yards. Distances are displayed in a matter of seconds. I can easily operate the rangefinder with one hand and hit the flags. It is small, fits in the palm of your hand, and lightweight. The only complaint I could have is that case feels cheap and has a plastic clip. When in the cart, I keep it in the case in a cup holder. When walking, I keep it in a pocket in my bag.

This rangefinder performs the same function as the Bushnell Tour V2 for $150 less. The differences are only cosmetic and a different brand logo on the side.

The Scout 1000 has three functions.

1) Scan Mode: You can range any object and it will change distances as you move it around.

2) BullsEye Mode: This is the same as pinseeker mode on the Tour V2. It determines the closest object and displays that distance. That's what you need to hit pins.

3) Brush Mode: This ignores closer objects and displays distance to the farthest object. This mode is not very useful for golf.

I love this rangefinder. On the first two rounds, I shot my best rounds of the year (2 strokes less on one, 39 for nine holes and a 76, 4-5 strokes less on the other). Before that, I hadn't broke 40 on 9 holes this year or 80 for 18 holes. I can't attribute it all to the rangefinder, but it does give you confidence in knowing exactly the distance to the pin and the distance to get over a bunker. It helps you know which club to hit and whether you should hit it easier or harder. It removes the uncertainty about the distance so you can worry about just hitting the shot. I think using the rangefinder makes my speed of play a little faster. It eliminates the need to walk off any distances. I'm usually ranging my shot as others are hitting so it doesn't slow down play at all. I'm now telling others what their distance is to speed up their play.

I've never used any other rangefinders so I can't compare it. Most reviews say the Bushnell 1500 is better (but it's about $400). I have played with someone using a SkyCaddie. The SkyCaddie was very quick, but it only gives distances to the front, back, and middle of the green. You still have to figure out where the flag is on the green. SkyCaddie also gave distances to bunkers, etc. If you can see it, you can range it with the rangefinder. If you can't see it, the SkyCaddie is better.

I highly recommend this rangefinder.

For a limited time, you can use this coupon code (116170) at checkout for 10% off. That brings your new total to $216.99. Submit the Bushnell Scout 1000 rebate for another $50 off price. That will make it $166.99.

There is no tax on Overstock, plus if you are a yearly paid member (or sign-up) you can save an additional 5% on all purchases. That could possibly make it $153.99 as you would get to also save ALL of that $1 shipping, too. :black eye:

Enjoy. I expect to see a "sold out" soon for that great deal.

Amazingly the above code still works! I picked one up just a few minutes ago to replace the one that I forgot at Hawk Meadows golf course (thank you to the staff member who decided to keep it). Great deal and with the rebate even better.

The Scout works better than the golf specific one (have used both). Scout picks up pins better.
