Advice on Detroit area golf

Flying into Detroit this weekend and I have time for one afternoon round of golf. I don't mind driving up to 1.5 hrs to play. Based on the reviews I've read here Shepherd's Hollow, Eagle Eye, and The Orchards seem to be regarded among the top tracks. Any opinions on which course of the three I should play?

I have played Shepherds Hollow and Eagle Eye and will play The Orchards next week. Shepherds was nice but Eagle Eye is my favorite out of the 2 i played. It is an awesome course and worth the drive. Eagle Eye is challenging and and was in great shape.

Where are you going to be coming from to go to the course? Detroit? Suburbs?

I'm flying in midday Saturday to DTW and staying at a hotel nearby. Was hoping to be out playing a course Sat afternoon maybe around 3pm. I figure Shepherd's Hollow is about a 1 hr drive while Eagle's Eye would be 1.5 hrs. Moose Ridge is another course people have given good reviews but I get the feeling it's not quite at the level of Shepherd's or Eagle Eye.

I actually like Moose Ridge better than Shepherds, i think the greens at SH's are really tricked up and not my favorites. I have never played EE. There is a little known course out I-94 in Chelsea, it is called Pierce Lake CC, it is right of 94 and probably an hour outside of Detroit. http://www.ewashtenaw.org/government/depar.../pr_pkgolf.html

 

I like another course up I-75 in Auburn Hills, it is called Fieldstone, it is an Arthur Hills design, it is right at I-75 and M-24. It is usually the Buick Open qualifier course. http://www.auburnhills.org/Fieldstone/default.aspx

I played Moose Ridge on my last trip to Detroit and it was great. Definitely worth playing.

 

Sheppherds Hollow, the Majestic and the Orchards are on my list for my next trip there in August.

Shepherds Hollow would be a great pick. If you got the time, play all 27 holes.Great track

Play the Orchards, one of my favorites. Something about this course just give you that feeling....no, not that one. Majestic is nice, all though i have not played the third 9 their yet. And for some reason everytime i play there it seems that every hole on the back nine is into the wind which got to be really annoying, i mean enough is enough when you are constantly playing in a 25mph or more wind every freaking hole. Still a very nice course.

 

Other Deroit Courses of interest might be Greystone in washignton MI area, or Twin Lakes in Rochester both nice tracks.
