summer internship

As most of you know, I am a PGM student.. I have been looking for a summer internships for a couple of months now. I have sent my resume to:

Marriott Golf: Stone Mountain, GA

Doral Resort and Spa, FL

Kiawah Island Resort, SC

Callaway PGA Junior Series Tournaments

Both Marriott courses have called me, but I have not been able to talk to a real person when I call them back. I'm tired of playing phone tag.

I was also looking at Reynolds Plantation in GA. I was hoping to have some interviews set up for the PGA Show next week. I know both Marriott courses are still busy at this time in the season. Am I being too anxious?

I would go talk to the head of your PGM Program and see if they can get the ball rolling. When I was in PGM all our internships were setup through the PGM Office and Matt Pinter head of the PGM Program. (BTW Reynolds Plantation is a great place)

I have two interviews set up with Marriott Golf. We have an internship director here but he is very busy with 300 students. And he's more like a travel agent just throwing out random places for you to go.

i went throught he mississippi state PGM program, sounds like many of the same issues i went through. sometimes you have to take matters into your own hands, do your own research, make your own calls, etc. like you said, your internship director has 300 students, so unfortunately he can't always make the calls for you. if you are going to the PGA show, you should have no trouble finding a job.

i live in atlanta, and the reynolds plantation courses are great. you would get to play on some fantastic golf courses. however, there is absolutely nothing to do in that area, it is in the middle of nowhere.

If you want a great place to do your internship try The Plantation Course in Kapalua,HI.

Send your resume to Marty Keiter he hires alot of people from the golf schools including the SDGA students where I graduated from but also from the PGM programs. Great place to be on the sunny Island's of Hawaii!!!!!!

I just gained my summer co-op to Kananaskis golf Club in Alberta Canada.

What I did was send about 75 emails to courses and those who replied usually asked for a resume and references. Those courses are now all calling or emailing me setting up interviews but now that I have my co-op set up this is not longer needed.

I'm all set on my internship now. I will be working at Doral in Miami, Florida this summer. All the details are not worked out, but I am very excited. I met the golf shop manager at the PGA Show and he's great. Marriott Golf will be a great company to work for.
