Callaway Tour i vs. ProV1

How similar are they?

I have thought the new tourI and tourIX to be hard feeling on the putter. I would rather play taylormade tp black or teh bridgestone first.

I just bought two sleeves to try out this weekend against the PRO v1, i will give my humble review as soon as I finish up sunday.

i am wondering if they may have a little less spin off the driver with a little more distance than the prov1, with about the same spin around the greens?? Can't wait for your review on sunday.. How about a mini review from your play today???

okay I so i got out yesterday and played a full 18 instead of the 9 holes that i had planned on. Please when reading this review realize that I am just a normal guy with a normal average golf game that gets out only once a week to play a game that i love but will never beat. that being said here goes

 

-I began the round by using my normal ball (07 TP black) on the first hole to get comfortable with my swing and into a constant tiempo. Of the next three holes i experienced a bit of hesitation to play the tour i because i felt like i didn't have the right swing to write an actual review of how the ball could play against a pro v1 but decided that i would go for it anyways and on the tee of the 4th hole (par 3 148yds) i decided to play the tour i.

 

 

To me and my swing skills the ball felt great off the driver and the wedges. The putter felt a bit softer than the TP and the V1 that I was using besides the tour i. I was really surprised how easy it was to feel the ball and kinda estimate how the ball would react off my wedges. It definitely felt alot softer than the pro v1 and for my mediorce (sic) wedge game the check and spin of the tour i was great. I normally play for check with about 1 or 2 feet of roll and using the tour i at first i was checking the ball up and it was rolling out about 1 or 2 yards instead of the 1 or 2 feet i was accustom to but after a quick swing adjustment for the softer ball the ball was checking very nicely and back to normal. Off the putter the ball was very soft and I had a great day on the greens with it.

 

I made sure to test the balls on the same hole using the same club and as best as I could using the same swing and here where my results

 

Driver - tour i was more consistant into the wind and held it's line very well. For me I wasn't swinging for distance but rather control and dependability and the tour i offered that. For my swing the tour i was long than the pro v1 by a slight margin but also i found more fairways with the tour i than with the prov 1. When trying for distance the tour i didn't spin as much as the pro v 1 which i liked alot because when i normally swing 100% i tend to fight a fade/push that with a higher spinning ball turns into wide right and usually in the woods. The tour i did go right a bit but not as fall as the pro v1

 

Overall i would recommend a trial of the tour i as for my game it did feel and perform better than what i was playing before. Is it better? For me it was but my swing stats aren't the norm. I swing a nike SQ 460 with epic 68s with 13* launch and around 3000rpm.

Callaway Tour i is the bomb!! I have played the Pro V1 for the past year since it was longer than the Callaway Tour 56, but did not spin as well. I played the Tour i yesterday and was about 5-10 yards longer off the driver/3-wood and about half an iron longer. Still had good control on full iron and wedge shots. I also did not have the problem of the ball scuffing on wedge shots like the Tour 56 ball from time to time.
