Callaway I-Mix adapters availability

Guys-

I am considering buying an Cally I-Mix head but want to try several of my own shafts with it. Anyone know if the shaft-side adapter for the I-Mix head is available anywhere?

I don't believe there is an aftermarket adapter available. Yeah, it's unfortunate, I agree.

It doesn't, but neither does what you said. He at least offered an alternative to the iMix.

 

According to my local rep, Callaway has no plans at this point to sell the adapters. I don't blame them either. They can sell the shafts with the adapters attached and make more money that way. When you consider the fact that they were asking $150 for an NV, it makes no since for them to sell the adapters separately.

ljdarby, just to clarify my point here. I was a Callaway club ho. Everything was Callaway, then I started making my own clubs and the Callaway wants went away until the FTI. I loved the FTI for about a year but, then I tried the Nickent Evolver at a demo day and it allowed me to experiment with shafts. So I tried it and wow, it was longer than the FTI for me, it was just as straight and it had a more traditional look. Then the Nickent rep told me the adapters would be available for me to use with my own shafts. So now I have Callaway woods, hybrids and wedges, Snake Eyes irons, a Scotty putter and a Nickent driver or two. Just my two cents that the driver is worth a try and may give you what you are looking for.

Cally will not sell the I-mix adapters seperately (which really blows btw). What irritated me more than anything is in the shafts they do offer, that they do not offer them in all available flexes. I'm an R-flex player and there's only a handful of shafts that are available in R. If for example, you want a something really exotic (pun intended) like a UST V2-65 in r flex, your only option is to reshaft an existing i-mix shaft. Totally stupid if you ask me.

I would be very surprised if Callaway sold the adaptors separately, I would be equally surprised if some other company doesn't just copy the design and sell them under a different name.

This is the part that I kept on saying that is not gonna be easy to make every body happy.

 

To many after market shaft out there to make OEM put them as their options, but yet they need to commit to their product and make it as good as possible on the availaibility to the consumer. At the end of the day, It's IMPOSSIBLE for them to really make EVERY body happy IMO. They just go base on what most popular choices out there.

 

Again, I hate to keep on mentioning it...If they have a pointed custom shops program, they would have no problem in this issue IMO.

You will need a modified 335 ferrule for sure.

 

The key is heating up the adaptor and pulling it out without making any damage. The inner sleeve is a aluminium, so it''s easy to damage it.

Sure, I have no problem with that! In fact i have no problem in most cases with any golf club work.

So still no news on buying the I-Mix connection separatly? I can get shafts ULTRA cheap compared to what Callaway are going to charge me even at staff rates!!!

Like Joe says, if you know what you are doing, you can take a current iMix adapter and put a different shaft in it. Callaway has some pretty strong patents so it may be a while before a thrid-party adapter is available. Again, the issue may be the tip diameter but that is easily solved with a shim. We do it all the time..

So far only custom hand made from existing ferrule that are available out there by chopping it at the right spot and ream the inner part and finish it with belt sander to shape it and shine it up with acetone or a light bead blast for matt finish. At least this is what i did.
