Had a bunch going on today so I didn't get too much done out there. Did manage to get the roll of fringe cut into strips though. Will have to start on the curves/joining tomorrow because it's cold and windy out there now that the sun is going down.

Haha. I'm actually a preschool admin. Grew up in Los Alamos and took a lot of physics classes, worked at the lab for awhile, then got kinda burned out on the lab rat scene so I started working mornings at the course maintenance dept and nights flipping/driving pizzas. Moved on to selling parts for turbo cars and doing customer service stuff for a local company, and just recently started designing and selling my own custom parts. The preschool is out by lunch so I've got a lot of time to do other things.

The landscaping stuff has always been a big hobby ever since I was in high school, and I've done some jobs for friends/family over the years. It all adds up over time I guess.

Got a few more hours in this afternoon and made a lot of fringe cuts.

 

Only one more piece to go for the inside cuts (green/fringe joint), and I'm bringing pieces inside tonight to do the outer cuts while I catch up on the DVR of the Farmers. This part takes a ton of time because I'm using the measuring tape to make about a zillion little dots, then free-handing in the curve before cutting. Already killed 3 silver sharpies today... the back of the turf really takes it's toll on the tip.

 

Also got the basic layout around the bunker done. Ended up with enough carpet to do the full 18" collar around the backside (was planning on only going 12" wide for that part). It's gonna look better this way.

 

It's supposed to be warm and calm tomorrow so I'm going to try and make it out to the course for 18... might not get much done out back. Will update with some more pics if I do, if not then Saturday evening there should be some more progress.

Yes on the teebox (x2) and bunker... no on rivaling Tiger's. lol. As soon as the cups get here you'll have to come on by and check it out.

I guess my only question is, will there be something to protect that window from skulled bunker shots? I would have to make that precaution at least….

That window is actually going to be replaced with a sliding glass door, and I'm gonna spend the extra for the impact proof glass. Hopefully none of us take it out in the meantime, haha.

Been trying to get a lot of golfing in over the past few days because the weather is supposed to turn sour this coming week, so progress has been slow. I'm still waiting on cups and haven't even received a shipping confirmation yet. Not too happy with Doyle-Golf at the moment. Need those cups before I can start seaming all of the pieces together, so I've actually been hitting pitches and putts more than I've been working on it. Haha.

 

Might start on some rough today, but kinda worn out and might need to recharge the ol' batteries instead. I did manage to get the pond edge started though, so the fringe on that side is now sitting a little flatter. Also got the garden wall semi-roughed in, still needs a little tweaking to make it match the curve of the green a little better.

 

Starting to look a little more finished.

Looking great man! Where did you play this weekend? I got in 9 yesterday on base, horrible greens right now, which I will blame for my poor putting. May try to hit the range this afternoon.

I was thinking, do have any remnants from the trimming you did to the green turf you just put in? If you have any sizable strips, I would be interested in buying some off you.

Nope... those guys do a lot of sweet Jeeps though. I was doing sales and service for BoostSciences, now just building small batches of parts that I prototype in my workshop and then sell in group buys on one of the bigger Mazda forums.

I needed something to brand the parts with, so I doodled up a 505 (northern NM area code) with the second 5 mirrored and then tried to shape it like a mushroom cloud (for my hometown of Los Alamos).

There are about a hundred different companies around here with 505 in their name, and creativity has never been one of my strong points, so it is what it is. Haha.

We played 18 down at UNM North. 18 bucks right now and the greens are in pretty decent shape for this time of year. They have a guy going out behind the last group to tidy them up and it's made a big difference. All the thin runner girls out on the perimeter is a good selling point too.

I ordered pretty much exactly the amount of carpet I needed, so the largest piece I have is only 4 feet long and it tapers down to a foot wide. Not much to really do anything with, but if you want it I'll set it aside and make sure it doesn't get tossed out with the trash on Tuesday.

Yeah it's $13 for 9 and then $5 per replay. 9 is only 10$ after 2 o'clock. Sweet little track... you should definitely try to check it out sometime.

I'll set that chunk aside and you can just have it when you come check out the yard.

Still no word from Doyle on the cups... I've been calling them for a week and sending emails with no reply. If I haven't heard from them before the end of the day, I am doing a chargeback and finding the cups somewhere else. Par-Aide and Eagle One don't have online ordering so I went with Doyle, wish I could have just gotten my buddy up in Los Alamos to order them through the course for me.

Doh... dunno why I said Eagle One there... Standard golf was the other one that didn't have an online storefront. Eagle One definitely does online sales, as I just received my cup rings from them today.

Oh and my cups are coming in on Thursday through John Deere. The guy there was awesome and told me he'd get 'em rushed in after I told him about the situation with Doyle. Hopefully the storm doesn't set them back too many days... supposed to clear up here for Friday.
