low flight

I don't know if this is the right place but anyway.

 

I'm a high ball hitter, most people tell me I hit the ball to high. I can hit a 3 iron the height most people hit wedges. In general this is not bad as I can work the ball lower with my irons, but I struggle with my driver into wind, to the point I don't hit it into wind. I can get to most holes without it but its a ego thing.

 

The list of drivers I have used in the last little bit

 

Icon v2 x smt spectrum 7*

Harrison Striper Tour s70 in a Ft3 tour 8.5*

NVS 65x in a Ft3 tour 8.5*

With most divers in any soft conditions I can create pitch marks and plug in fairways. On my course I have a few holes were over head power lines are maybe 50m of the tee and I hit my ball up through them... most of the time :)

 

I tee the ball off my left shoulder and so around half the balls if above the face, I have lowered the ball but it does not drop the flight.

 

Ok I also know that this may be more a swing issue but my swing coach does not see it as a huge issue.... & I'm a HO

 

I'm a 15hcp 5 avg SS 91 driver avg ss 105 (tops out at 120mph with everything) that has a naturally long swing (not Daly).

 

Is there a better shaft and or head combo I should be looking at???????

 

The protopype and dvs are close but still to high.

U can try Diamana white board with tour burner 9.5, low spin and use a harder golf ball. Another point maybe dun rest your driver head on the ground during address, i solved my problem by this.

The DVS is designed for high launch. If you like the feel, and it is close, try the VS proto. It is similar to the DVS but with a stiffer tip...lower ballflight and most likely less spin.

Cobra XL Tour 8.5 with a Diamana Whiteboard. This is a low launch-low spin combo! Most folks hit knuckle balls with this combo.

I tried the vs-proto and it was not that low and I didn't like the feel but that may have been the 905R head.

 

DVS is in wrx head at 8.8* .

 

as for ball I have been using the tour ix for months.

 

I also forgot I have hit a friends fti lcg tour 9.5* neutral with a Matrix Ozik Xcon-6 stiff it was low but a little to much shaft and I hated the sound.

Surprised the PYPE in the 4DX didn't penetrate. Was it a T-Spec? At your SS having these launch probs i'd say your coach is wrong, but anyways onward flies the HO. I'd be going a little heavier shaft for starters. Mid 70's maybe. WB's are good if you want to spend that money. 7Z08 is a shiny new shaft that would also be a chance. Three hot heads for the purpose are the DCT, 9015D and J33R 460. If you launched a DCT 7.5* too high with one of those shafts you'd have some frightening flip. Very surprised you saw the xcon-6 as too much shaft, it's softer than the PYPE 70.

Bridgestone J33 will do the trick. If you cant hit it between the chevron marks most every time, it might not be for you. It is most like an old school persimmon, or a small headed taylor made from the bygone years.

maybe it was the head the fti didn't feel right. I did like the PYPE 70 combo more.

I was doing the same myslef. It so hard to find a driver when i just baloon the crap out of it. Try the 8.5* mizuno mp 600 w/ the whiteboard. Worked for me hope its works for you.

As others have said, Geek DCT or Bridgestone J33r are both good starting points in terms of heads.

 

As for shafts, maybe a speeder 757 or Vista tour? There are really too many options to mention here.
