I thought it was the other way around.

look at your clubs-

sand wedge- rounded - with bounce prevents the club from digging too much

pitching wedge thru 3 iron- straighter- for chipping and striking from tighter lies

hybrids- rounded- good for getting out of the rough with out digging too much

fairway woods- straighter- good for hitting off fairways- with a sweeping motion

so

rounded-better for bad conditions- prevents club from getting caught by ground -better for diggers

straight-better for clean lies fairways, tight lied chipping- better for sweepers

It depends mostly what kind of conditions you play in but as a general rule:

High bounce - soft ground

Low bounce - hard ground

Also depends on what you will use the wedge for, full shots, chip shots, flop shots, bunker shots etc... Grinds are extreamly useful and as RBLMP32 said something like a T grind for instance... do some research and youll soon see which grind you would be most suited to and its almost gaurenteed youll find chip shots easier to play...

Most popular and useful are M,C and T... Also look up P,E and V grinds...

Yup. Scratch's old website used to list all their recomendations in one place for each type of swing/scenario, now they have the interactive fitting tool, which is very cool but you don't get to read about the other swing types and what benefits them and why.

The fellas at Scratch used to say that a sharp leading was better for someone who dug, to help the club cut through the ground. Then you'd want some trailing edge relief, to help the club glide through and up.

Wrong........ infact they say the opposite.....I have Scratch Irons and I was fitted by Ari....I'm a digger/driver and the leading edge on my Ar-1's is rounded......

It used to be on their original website that way. And besides what applies to irons doesn't necessarily fly with wedges, which is what we are discussing here :)

There's some mix up in what part of the club we are talking about here. I believe the OP is asking about a straight leading edge (like Scratch) versus a rounded leading edge (like Vokey), and not about sole grinds or/also the type of grind put on the sole very very near the leading edge. I think the OP is only asking about the part of the leading edge you can SEE at address. You can do a lot with a leading edge just below the point where sight is lost at address and still have a straight or round look to it.

The Scratch straight style is great for tight lies and alignment. The vokey style looks good when opening the wedge up because it's rounder and angles aren't lost, because they aren't there as much to begin with.

THIS

i just responded that MOSTLY stock clubs have the opposite tendency than the response before me.

the grind and other factors is much more relevant to his overall question.
