I gave in due to all the hype and can honestly say these wedges flat out perform. Incredibly easy to hit from any lie and great spin around the green...in the classic 588 shape to boot.

so far so good.. no complaints with my 60* Was 4/5 sandsaves @ Spy and chipped pretty well or putted well from 4-5 feet. Thinking about adding a 54 someday soon. Played 588's years ago..so all if familiar.

Im in the market to get some new wedges (my Cobras are starting to get a little dull, and my 64 is just well..old). I think these are going to be my christmas present to myself this year!!

For those who have the black pearl finish, how's the finish holding up? Is the Black Pearl finish in these CG14s more durable than the CG12s? I ask this because I read in one of the threads here that after a few shots/rounds the finish started to peel off. Could someone please post a pic of their used Black Pearl finish and indicate approximately how long have they been using it. Thanks in advance!

I used a friend's 56 for a round and I'm seriously thinking about moving my MP-R's out to make room. I moved 3 CG 10's out to put the R's in, but now that the 14's are an option...

I am undecided between the black pearl and the chrome finish. I heard that the black pearl finish deteriorates quickly. Will the chrome finish last longer?

the black wears immediately and ends up as a dull gunmetal look (face and sole)

the chrome is durable and will remain so for a long time (in wedge years)

 

currently there seems to be aggressive discounting on the chrome model

Between the chrome and black satin finish i like the black satin alot better. chorme hase to much glare on sunny days which can refelct up into your eyes when setting up to hit the ball. overall i like the cleveland cg-14 better than the titileist vokey sm series.

I used a buddy's black pearl 60 for a round and was so impressed with it I went out and bought he chrome version. I love the way the cg14s feel so much that I went out and picked up the 46 and the 54. Apparently now there is a camo version of the club that looks awesome!

I played a chrome 53* 588 for at least 4 years and finally upgraded to the 54* CG14 last year. Same great look, and plays about the same weight. A little lighter than the Cg12's which I like.

 

The black pearl finish is sweet but if anyone could help me find a Raw 54* it would be appreciated.

Played my first round with gunmetal 50, 54 & 58. These are outstanding wedges. Easy to hit, great feel and a great set up. Knocked two Vokeys out of the bag. I took my 4 iron out to go with three wedges. Driver, 3w, 3h, 4h, 5-PW. It has only been one round but I already feel this set up will be far more beneficial.

I may be in the minority, but I really didn't like these wedges

 

I picked up the 56 degree mid bounce version, and I just couldn't get used to it. The feel was very hard/clicky and my results were poor

 

After playing the CG14 for a few months, I took my old CG10 out for a comparison test late one night out at the course and it was night and day how much better the CG10's performed for me. The feel and results were much better with the CG10 than the CG14

 

I actually mailed my CG14 down to my Mom's house as part of a "travel set" that would just stay with her so we could play the local par 3 when I went to visit her. After my last visit, I told her to throw that CG14 in the trash or take it to the salvation army because I never wanted to see it again.

 

In my mind, the feel was much worse than the CG10, and the spin wasn't any better. I'm glad that I'll never see that CG14 56 mid bounce wedge again, that club and I didn't get along at all.

I also picked up the 56 degree mid bounce version to replace my Nak NP-1 56 degree. Imo, it's a forgiving wedge, but feel and control was not the best of all. The CG14 are "ebayed".

what about shafts guys? Anyone using one of the DG options? Thinking about straight S-300's to match my irons, but might go with some SL's.

I bought the 56 in the black pearl finish. After a few rounds I was sold. I went back and bought the 52 and 60. The grooves are awesome on these! I am now able to get my chip shots to check when I want them to.

Replaced my Cally x- tour wedges with the CG 14 54* and 58*. Really like these wedges.

When I was looking to acquire my first sand wedge I tried this, a Callaway sand wedge and a Slazenger Vapor - all in 56 degree models.

 

I found it much easier to get chip the shots higher with this than the Callaway. I guess it must have been the zip grooves in action. The camouflage finish makes it easily the coolest looking wedge I've ever seen.

 

Oddly enough, I was able to get a higher launch with the Slazenger Vapor then either of these clubs, and at 1/4 of the prices, the choice was a no-brainer

Just a follow up. I've now had a couple of rounds under my belt with the CG 14's. These wedges are excellent. My short game has gotten so much better. I find that I am using the 54* wedge most of the time, greenside, approach under 100 yds, sand, etc... Never let's me down.

Have the 50-54-58 in low bounce where offered. Great wedges. They have the DG shafts which are great. Able to open up the 58 for flop shots. Overall, very good wedges.
