How to Make my 2 Degree Closed Face, Square? X460 driver

Callaway Experts Please HELP!!!

I got the x-18 driver (x460 asian spec) and it's 2 degrees closed face like the ones in the states. However, I seem to be getting some nasty hooks on this and want to open the club face so that it sits square like the x460 tour model...Can my club fitter do tihs?

I'm worried about the bore-through...will this be possible?

Tough to say how open i can get it ( every head is a little different ), But by shimming it at the right corner when you installed the shaft (335 shaft on 350 hosel )will make the club sit more open.

Metal wood hosels may be bent open, however it's a high risk proposition and breakage is very common.

Shim open .. 350 hosel using 335 shaft.

 

Dap some super glue and sprinkle with graphite powder.. Will dry immediately. then sand it down until you got the shape u like.

 

With the correct position, you can open the head some.. but .. from my experience with Ping.. im able to shim it about 1.5 deg open from original. If u want to open up more.. u may have to use a diamond carbite bit and drill the hosel a little bigger ..

:D :cheesy: :) He is dealing with a Callaway ther is NO hosel. BTW..... Bending metalwoods is a cake walk if you know what your doing.

Bending metalwoods is a cake walk if you know what your doing.

 

I've been in the business since before we had metal woods, and there is nothing "cake walk" about bending today's titanium hosels.

 

The Tour vans have specialty forms for each model head they bend, and they still break as many as they bend successfully.

 

I did not catch the club model was a no-hosel model - sorry for that - but you are incorrect when you say that bending today's metal woods is a cake walk.

I have done this a couple of times and it actually worked really well. Both heads had .350 hosels and I used a shim to "wedge" the head open for a .335 shaft. Was amazed it worked so well. The heads were not bore through though. That might be harder.
