Real tough call there. Scratch definitely has a advantage with a grind to suit your style but having just recently tossed a pair of Chikaras in the bag, all I can say is WOW. They really do set up nice, glide through the rough, and give a bit more bite then my Scratch Wedges. It took me a few rounds but once I changed my attack (sort of forced to make the grind work properly) they performed unbelievably well. If you got the $$$, I don't think Chikaras can be beat.

I just tried the scratch wedges today, if a wedge gets better than this I would have to see and play it! I chipped closer and almost holed everything I hit, the ball stopped well and had plenty of spin when I needed it. I have played Vokeys for years and they NEVER felt this good. I'm sold, also hit the blade 6 iron with the KBS tour shaft and now I know my wife will kill me but I'm getting a set of these also..... ho ho hoing I will go!

the only reason I was thinking about scratch is because how custom tailored it can get to fit my swing, I know the chikaras are awesome but really think I could benefit if the wedge fit me more, how about bite the chikaras or scratch's

So anyone who plays scratch can you let me know what you think of your wedges same with chikaras anyone who plays them let me know what you think, in terms of feel, control, spin, and anything else

Chikara. Hand's down the best wedges out there. Why do you need a custom grind when the standard grind on the Chikara is so versitile? You aren't going to get any more bite than the Chikaras.

This we agree on...

I installed the KB smoke shafts in them and can play any and every wedge shot imaginable. I play the 52, 57 bent to 56 and the 60* original proto's.

Echo the sentiments of the Chikara. Hugely versatile grinds on them with a few versions to cater to the different swings and styles of play. Having played a pair of wedges that were 'Tuned by Carl,' I had no problems sporting for full Chikaras and would do it again in a heartbeat, if Carl were to make more lefties...just to have some spares. :good:

Thank you much for the support guys. I like to think my grinds work well for everyone but there is no miracle club for everyone. From the feedback I've received, I'm pretty happy with my products success. I'm sure Scratch has also had similar feedback from their players.

Good luck with your choice.

OH..and George...great customer and supporter..whatever you need...you know how to get ahold of me. :drinks:

Scratch because you can pick the sole you think is good for you.

Chikara because you use a wedge a master craftsman made for multiple shot's for every man.

Scratch because you can pick up used "custom" wedges on Ebay that other players thought would work well for themselves fairly cheap.

Chikara because the resale is still pretty high on Ebay.

I am very glad that the wedges are working so well for you. The bottom line is that there is no one grind that works for everyone. It simply is not possible. That is why we have had over 25 different grinds in play on the PGA and Nationwide Tours this year. The key is getting the grind that works for YOUR specific swing and game. Once we figure that out we pick a grind that is tailor made to your swing AND the exact shots you hit with that wedge. You will want a different grind for a wedge that is used more for fuller shots and shots with the face square than you will for a wedge that you use for shorter shots and higher softer shots with the face open.

I've never hit the Chikara wedges, and I probably never will because the Scratch wedges are perfect. They are unreal around the greens because of the sole grinds, and the grind makes a huge difference from the fairway as well. I have gotten up and down more consistently, and have been scoring better since getting them. I don't think you can go wrong with the Scratch wedges if you get the proper grind.

I have owned both (currently play the Chikara production chrome 60) and IMO the Chikara is the finest wedge around. The multiple 5 grind system allows you to play off of tight fairway lies and any kind of sand by just changing your hand position. Aggressive toe and heel relief. It's actually too easy to extract from the sand. This wedge could be played by a 25 hcp or 1 hcp player with great results. The Scratch was nothing special in my hands (maybe wrong grind), but it was an expensive lesson for me. BTW, I have owned 20 wedges in the last 5 years and the Chikara beats everything

Having recently owned a set of Chikara wedges, I can honestly say they are the best I have ever had. Financial forecasting forced me to sell them, but I would buy another set when the time is right.

Great spin, ridiculous feel, great look at the ball. Based on what I've read, Chikaras have a more aggressive groove, but I can't confirm that. My only negative comment was thet they dug more than I wanted in the sand, and had to open them waaaay up to get consistent results. Maybe spoiled by Solus. Luckily, my current Solus wedges are a close second, but I sure do miss the Chikaras.

I'm very happy with my sfu. had a liittle problem previously , too much bounce but ari took care of it personally by giving customised advise to shave off tiny bit of trailing edge, now its great. Very durable too. never tried chikara but tried yuyuri, vega , epon. All are good but scratch is excellent because it can fit the person exactly.

I haven't hit Chikaras, but the one 63 degree SFU wedge I have (others on the way) is sweet. I have never felt a purer wedge. This thing is so fun to hit...so far I only have outdoor range time in, but side by side my old Clevelands and Pings, this thing shines. I'm actually looking to get an old used one just for practice, because I'm purposely hitting the SFU so much....it's just too much fun!
