ACCRA Tolerance Technology Meets Steel
Design Features
&
Specifications

The ACCRA Tour Steel was introduced to the world on Thursday January 26, 2005 at the PGA Merchandise show,

The ACCRA Tour Steel recorded its first PGA Tour Victory February 27, 2005 in Tucson,

Remarkable!…..Proven Performance.

Multi Flight Technology…..Your Certified ACCRA Dealer can adjust the flight characteristics of this shaft, based on your requirements.

Internal Stability Control ….. This revolutionary System provides the ultimate in Feel and Performance.

Revolutionary Step Pattern ….. Each step reduces in its rate of taper by a different amount based on a percentage of the previous step.

This creates the profile of a constant taper shaft in a “stepped” product.

Multi-Wall Layering ….. This technology offers the Club Fitter the opportunity to create flight patterns only achievable with

the Tour Steel’s interchangeable blank program.

Double Nickel finish ….. For a distinctive, yet subtle, alternative look.

Don’t you deserve to have a shaft perfectly fit to your game?

No reviews yet, so I'll give it a go. I had a Mizuno MP 60 6 iron shafted with an Accra Tour Steel shaft to try it out. It was set up exactly to my specs in terms of flex, +.25" length and D3 SW. I've been mainly a DG player, except for a set of TFR's in one of my sets.

Appearance. It has a slight gold hue to it, very understated. It blends right in with chrome shafts. Its neither distracting nor attention getting.

Feel. Of course, this area is very subjective. In my opinion, it takes the best of what I like about rifles and DG. It has smooth, firm feedback on well struck shots. My bad shots are usually thinned, and feedback is immediate. No doubt about where I hit it. I could almost describe the feeling as harsh on thin mis-hits. However, well struck shots are absolutely addictive. I find myself anxiously teeing up the next ball so that I can nail another one. It's probably the best feeling shaft that I have ever played. I had a Nippon 1150 in this head before the Accra. Dispersion wasn't nearly as good and shots felt over dampened. it was almost like sensicore on steriods. Best description I would give that shaft was "tinny feeling". I can see why some would like it, but it was the opposite of the Accra in terms of feel.

Accuracy / Dispersion. This is where the shaft really shines. Distance is good - for me, slightly better than Dg and on par with the Nippon 1150. However, the dispersion and carry is excellent, very tight shot pattern, even on my dreaded thinned shot.

Trajectory. It hits a high ball, but in my opinion, on par with the DG. The difference for me is that the DG hits more of a pronounced apex, whereas the Accra seems to flatten out and carry (reflecting its rifle/proj x roots). I'm able to hit accurate knockdowns (I like to practice hitting shots to intermediate targets when I practice to help me learn how to control my swing and feel the clubhead.). I'm able to work the ball both ways, which I really don't attempt often on the course, except when getting out of trouble. But I like to fool around on the range. This shaft will responds to the inputs.

I'm going to go ahead and have the whole set reshafted. It's a terrific shaft that doesn't get a lot of attention, which is ashame. I think it could fit a lot of player profiles if given the chance.

Nice review Foreleft! :)

It's a unique shaft to be sure. The profile measured quite simlarly to Project X but on a much less pronounced magnitude. I think it was me that termed it "Project X Lite" The shaft itself is constant taper the same as PX but is accomplished with steps.

It's a fun shaft to hit. It feels reasonably responsive yet has a midsection stoutness which seems to help with control. Sensation at impact is smooth and very unlike DG, alittle more feel than TFR.

I think it's an excellent smooth swingers shaft....Kim Braley designed it and he was the brains behind all of Royal's best products.

Could one safely make the assumption that if one favors a shaft like the Aldila NVS or Accra Evolution Lite that this shaft would be an appropriate complement for the irons? :)

Sorry...3 weeks late but if you like the NVS, you'll like the Accra Tour Steel. I typically tip NVS quite a bit for any installation so perhaps the comparison is a bit vague. The TS feels like a midflex shaft, it is not an equivalent to the Dynalite. I haven' t hit the Evo Lite so can't comment on that.

The Tour Steel production will move to another factory. Exciting new product for 2007...even as jaded as I am, still very much looking forward to the introductions. They always seem to bring to market very well engineered, great feeling and looking product.
