backweighting wedges

what is the best way and impact of doing this

I recently bought some wedges with lightweight steel (~100g) and the swingweights around D4-D5. I have been told by a local club fitter that for that shaft weight, I should have a lower swingweight to avoid losing feel for the clubhead during the swing. He suggested drilling out the wedge head, backweighting, or replacing the shafts w/ heavier weights.

any thoughts? what does backweighting do to feel, I know it will affect overall swingweight.

Have you hit the clubs? How do they feel to you? Wedges usually have at least a D4 swingweight to ensure MORE feel. Mine are at D6. Swingweight is misunderstood by way too many "Pros." If they feel alright to you, don't change them just to obtain a certain swingweight. The weight of the shaft shouldn't dictate what your final swingweight should be - YOU should.

after hitting his wedges and mine, his felt better with respect to feeling the clubhead and where the hands were through the swing. my wedges are D5, w/ ~100g shafts, his were D5 w/ S400, so ~125g shafts. his point was if you had a very heavy swing weight w/ very light shafts you could lose feel.

 

I am not trying to achieve a certain swingweight, i am trying to understand if by ordering these clubs with 100g shafts but stil asking for a heavy swingweight that they may be "unbalanced" (not sure best term to describe that) these wedges. if that makes sense.
