Light flex iron shafts

What kind of issues can one expect?
Hi guys,

I have been playing MP-33 blades for most of this season of golf (my first season) in order to start grooving some solid ballstriking foundations. I am very happy with how far I have come in one season.

When I bought my blades, I found them in an auction on the bay which described them as being all standard loft, lie, etc. I made the mistake of assuming that they would be Dynamic Gold S300 shafts because that is basically the 'standard' MP-33 shaft. When they arrived I found they were regular flex (R300) shafts. I figured it was fine and the regular shafts would probably suit me better anyway.

What kind of problems can happen when playing too light of a flex in your iron shafts? There is lots of discussion on too light or too stiff for driver shafts but I haven't ever read a definitive answer for irons. I know my swing speed has increased and I have started to swing more aggressively. Still working on hitting the ball solidly.

My usual miss with an iron is a hook. Give me anything between my 3 iron and 6 iron and a solid hit has the potential for hooking (while my driver swing now produces a baby fade thanks to the open face on my 9015D). I have been working on my lag with the Pure Ball Striker but still tend to sweep the ball off the grass (very shallow divots with most irons) and have a high ball flight on a pure strike. I tee the ball up on par 3's about 1/4 inch above the grass and pick the ball off the tee and hit the ball very high. Distances are fairly predictable but I have been wondering if stiffer shafts would give me a more penetrating flight?

Thanks!

The weight is almost the same for both S-300 and R-300. The S-300 is 2 to 3 grams heaver it is the flex that is different. The R-300 is kicking through giving you a higher ball flight and if you are playing the ball forward it will tend to cause the ball to also hook. If you do not want to change the shafts just move the ball back a half of a ball in your stance until you get a straight away ball flight. Continue to strike downward towards the bottom of your arc or low point do this by directing your hands to an aim point just in front of the ball. PM me if you have any questions.
