VS Proto 80 driver shaft?

I'm trying to find a good heavy driver shaft and thought the VS Proto 80 would be a good choice. Has anyone tried one of these in a driver? What flex recommendation would you make for a 110mph SS with mid-fast tempo? What launch and spin characteristics could I expect? Any other good choices in the heavier weight range?

The VS Proto loads well and has great energy transfer.  You can smooth it or hard load it.  For about the same price, you can find the V2 Tour which goes up to like 95gr.  If 80gr is fine, and you want less spin, try the whiteboard.

Thanks for the response. Do you think the VS proto 80 plays similar to the 757? Do you know if the VS proto S would need tipped any in a 510tp for a 110mph SS? I would love to try a WB but not wanting to spend that much on a shaft.

I used a VS Proto S 80G with a 115+mph swing and a quick hard transfer and it worked well. It was the only shaft that did for a while (I broke the club). Nice flat mid-spin shaft.

Im not an expert on the 757, so I couldnt really compare the two.  Like cap mentioned, the VS is a nice mid-launch, mid-spin shaft.  Im a cutter, so I dont care much for spin.  HOWEVER, if with you draw the ball and that spin helps to an extent.  It would give you more run out than I would ever get.

 

So if you do draw, and favor a full release, try it untipped first.  It would be easier to turn over and hit your shot.  Leave it an inch longer than you normally would and grip down on it.  That way you dont have to deal with an extension afterwards.  You can just butt cut the inch or tip the inch.

Thanks for the advice. I do tend to draw the ball rather than fade so it sounds like a good heavy weight option. I'm gonna give it a try in the 510tp at 44-44.5" length and see how it goes.

WOW! Held up to 115mph. That's good to know because I've been measured at 113mph but usually around 108-110 consistently. Sounds like it might work pretty well at shorter length driver. Thanks.

Its a solid shaft... I have used the 60G and it was good as well but didnt kold up. Now compare that to the 65 that is stock in some drivers, that shaft is not even close to these. At all!!!
