i have a monster 9.5 and i have gone back to my hibore xl tour 9.5, i feel it is more solid and easier to work

just my feedback

Same here. I picked up a Monster and it is a bomber for sure but I like the smaller looking head size of the XL and it is more workable and feels more solid. I picked up a Tour Issue 460 XL head and it sets up .5* open instead of 1* closed like the retail versions and this thing is money.

The Monster, although Cleveland says it's square, looks 1-1.5* closed to me. It's possible if you re-shaft you may be able to angle a .335 tip shaft in there where it sits closer to square.

TM Stealth+ 5w at 18.25°, HZRDUS Black RDX 80 6.5, tipped 1”, 42.5”

Great Pics ROBOPTI :drinks:

Can't wait to hear your opinion on this one.

For those wondering about face angle ... the Monsters that I've seen appear to be pretty square. Also, the Tour Models are definitley open (like all the previous HiBore Tour Models) and smaller in size ... I think they actually look very similar to the XLS Tour Models ... Hopefully there is an upgrade in performance compared to the XLS Tour.

The Original HiBore XL and XL Tour are still some of the BEST drivers I've ever hit and I still keep a HiBore XL 8.5 in the reserves.

I finally got the Tour out onto the course today....and its silly straight. I had trouble with hooking the Xl tour and didnt bother with the XLS but this one is very easy to hit straight. I fight the left side and this head in 8.5 is a little fade biased which i love. Its super low spin and combo it with the star X ball i actually launch this thing in an acceptable territory. I was pleasantly surprised and its got a nice solid sound with the V2 in it. Here are some pics of the tour not quite as square as the standard monster. im going to try and hit it next week with the srixon ball on a launch monitor and see what the final outcome is.

Cheers

Scott

its a lower launching head and definatly spins the ball less.

Nice pics. Does the Tour model have the same MOI and clubhead dimensions as the standard version?

tour is only 440 cc and its supposed to be 2* open but it just looks square at address. Both drivers according to the cleveland site approach 5900 moi. both are diagramed at 2.8 X 5 X 5

this driver has more fade bias than the XL tour. I really had trouble hooking the XL. This head is a little more traditional looking than the XL which had a very noticeable scoop. This driver appears to be a little larger to my eye though and the face is a little deeper.

Well .... I have had a few chance to use this ... and .... just not for me

The main thing for me .... and tihs coming someone who uses the L4 which i no "small" head .. is that the head was so large that it actually got sloppy. I had to tee it ten miles in the air just to get the sole plate thru with out bottoming out. Maybe my swing was short circuiting - but I did notice that. Just almost too big. It has decent pop and pretty good length - but I compare any new Cleveland product - who I LOVE - always have - to the XL / XL Tour line - and I just prefer the "older one". I am just gonna say it's OK - but not for me - It is EXTREMELY easy to hit as you could imagine - but ... just not for me.

As far as the shaft - I LIKE IT !!! - A LOT !!!! ... It still has that typical UST kinda bullwhip feel to me. I have talked to quite a few people that get that same "loose tip" sensation that I do. This kinda has that - but I MUST say. This shaft took a head that I KNEW would be very high launch (9.5) - and pretty spinny - and corrected both of those. I am impressed. I would love to see what this would do with an S9 - I may just have to find out

All in all .... Good driver - I could see people who want to enjoy the game / have fun and making it off the tee easier REALLY enjoying this driver. A very good GI driver - NO BRAINER !!!!! ... Anyone trying to stay in the fairway and loves cleveland - I wouldn't steer you away from the monster ;)
