TM SUPER QUAD 282

so i got a TM 282 from a friend on tour. the clubs specs out for me perfect, fubuki 73X 44 1/2 278cpm, 9.5 loft 1 degree open, d6 weight....sounds good right. the club wont do anything but go dead left. i tried putting all of the weight on the toe and still LEFT, i asked him if he had it hotmelted and it was not. so what is going on, i hate to be a jerk but its not my swing. im a +3 and if im good at any part of the game its driving the golf ball. any ideas as to why this club just goes dead left?

But it sounds like you should go back to your old driver and ditch that one.

I hate to state the obvious, but at a +3 you should be able to hit anything!

 

Yeah maybe my speacial dialed up tour driver that was set up specifically for someone else does not fit me!! <---------------

Back to the topic: I'd be willing to bet that it was hot melted a TON.

ok, where to start...a good player should not be able to hit anything. my neighbor who i have looped for has won a couple majors and when i have seen him test drivers..if its the wrong fit its off the map. a good player can figure out how to hit a driver but your an idiot if you start doing that.

 

as for all of us and our handicaps...yeah im a +3, and a two time all american.. dont call into question anyones game on here when you dont know the person.

 

and as for the people with legit answers, thanks. i know for sure its not hot melted, i took it apart and weighed the head and its not. besides i talked to my buddy again and he said he has never had a driver head hot melted. and no i have not played this shaft before.

Coincidentally I put a Fubuki 73 x in a superquad tp 8.5. I tipped it 1/2 " and spined it so the nuetral spine was facing 9 oclock when looking down at the club...I hit nothing but snap hooks with it. I pulled the shaft hacked off another 1/2" and twisted the shaft so the spine was facing 3 oclock...I hit it perfect now; medium trajectory and can hit fades or draws...you may want to pull the shaft and tip it a little and/or check where the spine was when it was installed and adjust from there...

at 44.5" in length,the swingweight is a bit on the heavy side...what weights are in the head? stock configuration is 2-12grams and 2-1 gram weights...typically the superquad heads 282 or not usually came in at 200grams...sounds like there might be some hot melt in the head...

Well, since hotmelt is out of the question, I'd do what Drew020202 suggested and see if the spine is not correct. That's really the only other thing that I can think of.

I'd say this is the best advice. In my experience it is a little uncommon for a shaft to perform that poorly if the spine is out of whach but I have seen it a time or two. I had a guy that hit nothing but snap hooks with an Altus. Good player too. Took the shaft out and flo'd it and started piping it down the gut.

check lie angle and shaft tipping. as said, d6 at 44.5" is heavy - that would have to be like a 212gr head or so?

Sounds like the most likely culprit could be the spine alignment of the shaft, or maybe the shaft has some type of flaw that you can't see from the outside. Although, I would think that a tour club would already be spined.

 

BTW, what is "hot melting"?
