Hey guys, hope everyone is well. A little update on my golf game. Its non existant! Haven't gotten to play at all. People at the club think I'm actually ill. Actually lost my crappy job last week, so thats wonderful. Good news though I have an interview with a company tomorrow that I'm really excited about and they seem to be excited to meet with me again. I should have no problems affording to golf if I get this job. If so the "pay it forward" shall begin. I appreciate everything everyone has done its been incredible can't wait to get out there and play with everything everyone was so kind to supply me with. Thanks again everyone.

I'm sorry to hear of your troubles. I sure that hearing that you're not alone is consoling for a moment but then it's back to the situation...

 

There is some great advice in the follow up posts and I thank all of you for the comments as they've helped me a little too.

 

I will offer this... Golf can be done on a very limited budget. I'm living it right now.

 

In years past I've been able to play the Old Course, East Lake, Colonial, and a host of other great courses. At the moment I'm limited to my local muni that I play on Tuesday in a league. It's 18 holes at 4pm and walking fees are $13. It's even a decent course with a slope of 128. My range balls and practice consists of any ball that I find while playing that I wouldn't usually use. I will play a ball until I lose it and this year I've lost three so far. Walking hurt the first few times but it's nice to know that I can now do 5 or 6 miles without collapsing...

 

My father bought me a sky-caddie this spring that I have yet to take out of the box. Mostly because I set up his and found that there's a subscription fee. I'm thinking of selling it to pay for my golf season.

 

I bought a new (new to me) driver this year. Got a Callaway ERC Fusion out of a barrel at Golf Galaxy for only $22. I am killing it! A few weeks later I picked up an Adams Redline 3-wood for $15 and it's going well too. I traded in a few old drivers and got two Titleist wedges.

 

I'm selling a pile of putters now that will go to some new grips and possibly a lighter bag (used of course).

 

My GF and I are watching every penny and I have offered to not play golf this year. She insists that the money is well spent and that I should use the four hours as a mental diversion if nothing else. I can tell you that whether I play well or not... it's okay because I'm playing.

 

Find some sticks... borrow some sticks... just get out there and enjoy the game. Maybe someday I'll get back to the great courses but I know that I will always play the local muni on Tuesdays with the lads for yeas to come.

Well friends I got to dirty those sticks this past Sunday. THEY WERE OUTSTANDING! Everything felt wonderful. Putting was especially awesome. Only got 13 holes in before the tournament was rain shortened. Felt good to be out there. One problem, thats all I want to do now is go play. My 15 year old nephew wanted me to go play yesterday but I had to turn him down due to the fact that we are officially broke. The job that I was hoping for was not going to be able to compensate me even half of what the industry standard is. Next week I start back at one of my previous employers in a production floor position and a part time job at a warehouse just to make ends meet. There just are not any jobs out there. I'm either under qualified for one or over qualified for another. You know what though? I got my kids and I got the hope that things will turn around and I will be able to enjoy the game of golf eventually. With what you have all done for me I have hope and am excited to get back out there again. Thanks again everybody!
