Its now posted online . I see why no one was very thrilled with it . Its nice seeing the spin rates especially which of the cheaper balls spin best off a wedge . That being said its not very telling .

I agree that demand shouldn't be used as a criteria, the performance features are really the only thing that should count. That being said, I read the article and I think it was only weighted 10% in the total score. Does anyone know if this was the sole factor that pushed the Pro V1 to the top? I don't play a premium ball so I don't have a dog in this fight but in the end, it might not have made a difference.

No, Pro v1 is rated very well overall. But demand is the sole factor that made Z star silver.

Ok, thanks. I agree, it isn't right. As I said, I don't play a premium ball so I didn't pay much attention to that category.

Their test data is a joke. Why would you test the premium balls at 96MPH swing. They should have tested the balls with a 95, 105, and 115 swing for the data to be useful in the slightest. The "demand" category was just there for them to give Titleist the nod over Srixon.

I'm sad there's not a golf magazine out there worth buying... I wish they'd do a true ball test with some good data rather than some fanboy article written for teens.

I don't understand why nobody understands why the Pro v1 got the gold. The pro v1 won 3 out of the 4 catagories including perfomance. They got 5 stars along with Srixon plus the catagory leader which means they were rated the highest. At least that's how I read it.

Just a little update I just got permission to pass on which further bunks the demand claim made by Golf Digest:

The Z-STAR and Z-STAR X are currently not available and are backordered until May. Good news for me is that I now get to use the Z-STAR X and see how that works for me as I ran out of the Z-STAR last week (only bought one dozzen each to start out with). Hands-down the best ball I've ever played.

In related news: demand for Golf Digest received a 1-star rating in the beruo household a couple weeks ago. :lol:
