What happened??

I was excited to see this months magazine with the ball review inside. I was very disappointed when I looked at it. What happened with them showing distance and actual spin numbers with each ball?? Their graph/chart of all the balls seemed useless to me. Was suprised it didn't show actual data like previous reviews.

I liked how they just listed all the OEM's different balls together in the same category. Such as ProV and ProV1 (Gold) Bridgestone B330, B330S, and B330RX. (Gold)

 

You can also tell who pays the big bucks for the advertisment in GD. Nike Tour over the Srixon Z Stars in a absolute joke. Hell, Tiger doesnt even play the new Nike ball.

I don't like nike balls in general but I think Tiger IS playing the new nike ball. WITB for wgc he was using it.

 

I agree on the review but it was cool to get a general idea of the standouts---

 

I never knew the new srixon's were any different and it seems like they are. I had 07 and 08 srixon's and they were the worst balls I have ever tried so I lost faith in their products.

The review was disappointing, and it appeared to be half-tailed done. You would think that everyone plays Titleist (Pro V1, V1x, and NXT Tour) according to the article, and everyone else is chopped liver who doesn't. I don't know of anyone who plays the NXT Tour. I am not knocking Titleist, but the article seemed biased, which is on GD. It was too subjective and not an accurate representation of all manufacturers and the different golfball segments.

Not to nitpick, but it's the Pro-V1 and Pro-V1x. And the Pro-V line were the only ones to get a gold rating. The B330 line just got the 5+ rating on the innovation sub-category.

 

As for the rest of the balls, they are simply listed in alphabetical order (I think). The overall ratings are only separated by gold or silver. The sub-categories are another story, with demand being the lamest of all.

 

And Tiger is using the new One Tour. The only things that aren't up-to-date are his Sasquatch Sumo fairway woods.

its because GOLF mag came out with the ball test. last year not golf digest

I noticed the srixon only got silver andf from the looks of it it was due to demand or buzz. from what I've seen on this forum, there seems to be a ton of buzz. I also noticed that even the Pinnacle got props like its other Auchnet bretheran. Not stiring the pot here, but why so much fortune brands love?

I can understand that if they must choose one clubhead speed for testing, that 96mph may be an average for those using premium balls, but every brand of balls employs one model to suit higher swing speeds. Test this category at 95mph and 110mph! Create some differentiation.

 

Pretty disappointing. Get rid of the Demand category and go with Value, (price/durability).

I definitely agree with having a durability rating instead of 'demand'.

So, if this was done in Japan, then Bridgestone would have the higher demand?? This was the lamest Hot List yet. Should have called it the "Cold List" :russian_roulette:

The only good part was the grid showing the driver spin, wedge spin and launch angle. Given that I am in teh mid 90 swing range I will be trying the TM Tp and the Bridgestone e5+ based on teh grid data.

I was a little disappointed in their review as some of these other posts are.

 

It did seem somewhat biased. I would have liked to hear feedback from some of the testers to see if the tech data matched the ball flight, how the ball performed for draws, fades, headwind, knockdowns shots, and so forth.

 

I have never played Srixon, but from all the positive posts, I think that will be the next ball I will try.
