Hey Mat562, you're the Notts lad aren't you?!!!

I live in Auckland NZ know but was born in Bingham and played junior golf at Radcliffe-on-Trent. I also worked at American Golf near the Park-n-Ride. Good to meet a fellow Notts man on WRX!

Anyway, wonder if I could pick your brain...

Do you know anything about these MacGregors? Bought them for NZD$125 (50 Sterling) and they look great, but I can't find any info on them for hide nor hair. Copper underlays maybe?

PS Cheers for the comment on the WITB, might upload some new photos, others don't really do them justice.

Notts lad?!?

I've never been so insulted in my life, Sir. For that remark I demand satisfaction - and shall have it in a duel at first light. I shall send a man to call on you...

I'm actually Yorkshire-born mate, and still live just the right side of the dotted line on the map. We could do with a big wall really, a bit like that Hadrian bloke knocked up, with barbed wire on top.:D

My stomping ground was a bit further north as youngster, although I did venture down to Sutton-in-Ashfield and Nottingham on the odd occasion - as I still do.

I can't say those MacGregor TP-9/Powebilt Citations are a set I'm familiar with, albeit the soles are similar to couple of models of iron that they knocked out in the late '60s/early '70s. I'd be willing to

bet that a man like freddiec would be able to give you a bit of a heads-up though. Very nice, whatever they turn out to be, and suspiciously like a bargain at that price. I'd be guessing early to mid '70s

when he ID's them.

Simon Plumb what do you play off.

Those Titleist irons are just sensational!!

I play off five but have just had a year off. Gonna use winter (I'm in NZ) to get back into it and work real hard on 100 yards in, and hopefully attack a scratch handicap.

If you want more info and pics (I got trigger happy) on the irons there's a dedicated thread.

Thanks Jack.

Thanks for the tip on FreddieC mate, and sorry about the Notts assumption.

You're right, they should build a wall, it'd keep all tut-Yaaaarkshi' folk out...

I'll PM Freddie him and see what he knows. Thanks for the help mate and good golfing to you.

Simon,

Love your bag! I also have that same Big Bertha still, although don't game it anymore, but do play it occasionally.

Those Tourneys you posted I think are from the mid 1970s. I say the mid to late 70s because the way "tourney" was written was something they did in the mid 70s If i remember. My history book only goes up to 1969 and don't see that same exact model. That split level sole (was supposed to "improve your lie on every shot") was used a lot even in the VIP model of 1969. Those are some nice sticks. I'm gonna dig some more to see if I can find some more info and let you know.

Matt, thanks for passing my name!
