Mizuno MP52 and Next Year's Groove Rule

Recommended Posts

Does anyone know whether or not the "modified U grooves" on the Mizuno MP52's are going to be part of the "banned from competition" list? I'd like to play in some tournaments next year, and love the way these feel. I would certainly hate to get these only to be told they're not acceptable.

Thanks!

doesn't matter what tourneys you play in, you can use your irons...as long as it's not on the PGA tour. Then you'de get new irons for free anyway.

I don't understand why normal/everyday golfers, even top amatures, even care about the groove rule. I would think we all need all the help we can get.

I care! Especially if I am playing your for the club championship.

Why though?

Am. events are exempt from the rule for the next five years.

Is your club tourney a PGA event?

this is getting ridiculous.

I hate to break it to you, but anyone playing in your club championship can use an irons they want for about two more decades. Are you going to call out your opponent on the 18th green when he sticks a shot from the rough with his "old grooves" and yours bounces through the green becasue you went out and bought new "PGA Tour approved" irons? Are you going to play some blades too, just because they do on tour and you want to make the game harder on yourself?

Listen, I was responding to the guys question about caring about the groove rule not about when.
