Golf/Spa Resorts in Upstate New York?

Look into Turning Stone resort and casino. its in verona new york just east of syracuse i think. its the cream of the crop and i heard it was rated #1 in the country for service. they have 3 great courses,and the PGA tour plays an event in september every year there. i heard its pretty expensive though.

If you are a baseball, then I highly recommend the Otesaga resort in Cooperstown...

It's a very nice golf course with some really nice golf holes (great finisher with an island tee), but short (6400 from the tips). The resort itself is a beautiful historic building with a great deck that overlooks Lake Otsego which is a perfect spot for your morning coffee, afternoon tee or evening cocktail.

 

The only "negative" is that there is no spa on site, but there is a day spa within walking distance that my wife told me is quite nice.

 

As an added bonus if you are a fan of Belgian style ales, the Ommegang Brewery isn't far...

I understand that the Mohonk Resort has a great spa and the lodging is unbelievable, but it's only a 9-hole 2700 yard track.

 

A third option would be the Sagamore.

The golf course is a par 70 Donald Ross design and I understand that the spa is also very nice.

 

I can only vouch for the Otesaga, but I can tell you that I would absolutely go back and my wife (non-golfer) would as well even though there's no spa on site.

Most of the suggestions that were posted are pretty good. IMO the cream of the crop is the Sagamore. It is a luxurious resort with an awesome Donald Ross course.

 

Turningstone does have three very nice courses and a casino. If golf and/or gaming are your main objectives this is a good choice. However, if you are looking for a nicer place to impress your spouse or significnt other the Sagamore or Otesaga would be better choices. If you do go to Turningstone, you must stay in the Lodge and not the main hotel tower that is above the casino. The Lodge is very nice. modern and decorated beautifully, but is more expensive than the regualr hotel, but still a good deal.

 

Saratoga has golf and a spa but not at one resort as far cas I know. There care some quaint old hotels on Broadway and one very nice new one the name of whicgh escapes me. The Srartoga State Park Golf course is nearby and not expensive but it can be crowded and slow. Saratoga National GC is a few miles away and is tougher an expensive.
