I have been using a M1 with the weight kit for a while now, and love it. I have had many other anser style putters and I think the over all quality is as good as scotty putters and better than the pings I have owned with more versatility. The putters I have owned before the M1 that i can compare to are Ping WRX ti2, Ping WRX ti3, Ping isoforce ansers, Scotty STUDIO STYLE NEWPORT 2.5, Scotty STUDIO STAINLESS LAGUNA 2.5. All I had to lead up for weight and feel. The feel with the M1 is outstanding and getting the weight where you want it with the weight kit is a snap. The two neg. things I can say about the putter is that the weight kit does not come with it and cost is a extra $50. (well worth it and I wouldn't buy one with out it) and the resale is very low compared to scotty and ping putters. The machine work is every bit as nice as the scotty putters i have owned and much nicer than any of the pings I have owned. Go get one and give it a try, you wont be disappointed. :)

M1 is a very nice Answer style putter, thicker top line for solid chunky look, good feel & solid at impact (only using standard weight)

I teamed mine up with an Iomic grip & its a pleasure to get out of the bag & putt with.

Got one, bought only for usd130. Nice anser putter, I like the feel when touching a ball.

 

I only disappointed with the beryllium insert, it's too thin and would quickly wear out.

I have always been a fan of Bobby Grace putters and currently I have a GT-5K Tour Center Shaft with the Grey HSM insert and the putter is so far superior to any of my SC's.

 

I was anxious to finally see the new Bobby Grace Response Face Off Putter and this evening finally saw and putted with one at the local golf store. What a complete disappointment! It does not feel solid and feels lighter in weight than other models. I tried both faces and found the yellow Polycarbonate face was somewhat better in feel than the Titanium face. Perhaps it is forgiving on a toe or heel hit but not a solid feeling center sweetspot with any feedback. Also in setting up behind the ball the putter face closed and the putter is not face balanced as there was about 15 degrees of toe hand similar to the RedX. The grip is a Winn grip.

 

Maybe I am just spoiled by the quality of the GT Tour model but the Response was not impressive and expected more from Bobby Grace.

I replaced my beloved Scotty Cameron with the MacGregor DCT Response "Face Off" - I absloutely love this putter. I shaved 6 strokes off my already pretty good putting game. I'm not real tall (5'4") so I got a 33" and put an oversized grip on it because I was recovering from hand surgery. My plan was to use it for a short while and resume using my Scotty.

 

N/M - I'm keeping the Face Off. It puts a really good roll on the ball and is super easy to align. If you miss the large sweet spot, the balanced face still gets the ball nearly the same distance as a perfect stroke. I discovered that the M1 weights work with this putter - nice to know if you want to adjust the putter weight.

 

I've tried dozens and dozens of putters. This is the ONLY one that made me want to set aside my Scotty. :D

I have a Bobby Grace , Amazing Grace, with the red HSM insert. It's a great putter. The alignment aid and the MOI shape are truly useful. MacGregor sells the same putter in Grey and calls it the M5K , I believe.

 

Anyway, it is a great putter and helped imporve my putting, but then a friend of mine bought an odyssey 3-ball putter and very kindly gave me one of his old 2ball putters. I hate to say it, but I make even more putts with the 2ball and it has been in my bag all this season since I got it.

Have the 6.4K and am absolutely loving it! Amazingly, the high MOI really does help on slight misses. Practically swings itself especially on shorter putts.

I have tried a wide range of putters during the past few years, all ok, but the M5K has a feel and roll that is quite unique, and with discount pricing available, is the best value there is.

Do you know where I can get M1 weights? I want to buy a DCT Response and customize it so I can putt like this (see picture), but with this long a shaft, I need the head to weigh more than the original 350 grams. I called MacGregor and they told me no weight kit is available for the DCT Response.

MacGregor sells a weight kit for the M-Series & V-Foil MOI 14K putter. The weights in this kit will work in the FACE OFF putter as well. You do not want the weight kit for the MOI 5k, 6.5k, or 7.5k. [list]

Thnaks for the info cobraqueen. I finally saw a Ping G2 C10 on sale for 70$ at GolfTown and picked it up. The 48-inch shaft that comes with it is fine and the weight is OK.

Check [where else?] eBay - I've seen the weight kit sold by itself, as well as some putter/weight kit combinations that are cheap enough that you could just toss the putter and be happy with the price.

Weight can easily be added to the M5K by removing the rear weight and filling the voids with lead or tungsten. I have done this to all my V-Foil putters. There is also room under the M1 weight plugs to add a little lead or tungsten...
