Golf Ball dilema need some help here

Okay bottom line I put tons of spin on the ball and I'm tired of hitting great shots into a pin only to have my ball spin back and end up 20ft from the pin sometimes more. Played the pro V1 then switched to the pro v1x and still spinning too much. Even tried the nxt tour and just to hard for me. Can anyone suggest of soft ball like the pro v1 or pro v1x that spins less then the titleist balls. Key thing here is soft ball that I can feel but it won't spin at 500000 rpms. lol Z star perhaps?

The Z star spins as much or more than the ProV1. Perhaps the Z star-x?

 

Also, is the Callaway tour ix too hard for you? That cuts down spin quite a bit.

Well, you are hitting high spinning wedges so even hard balls are going to spin a lot.

 

You might want to try: Callaway Tour IX, Srixon Z StarX, Nike One Tour D, Bridgestone B330, Taylor Made TP Black.

 

All will spin less than ProV1 but are a top quality ball and have a soft feel (some softer than others).

thanks for the suggestions so far, it's not just on wedges but on all of my irons. I hit a high ball with lots of spin even with a 7 or 8 iron it's spins way to much for me. I notice a lot of my iron shots balloon.

 

Does the nike one tour D or zstar X, or tp black spin less then the prov1x?

Distance was very close and there probably wasnt more than a 5-10 yard difference between them all, but spin was pretty noticeable from most to least

yepyukon thanks for the feedback I'm going to just pick up a sleeve of each and hit the course one day late in the afternoon and just hit approach shots and see which one behaves for me. Appreciate the suggestions. Oh funny thing is I hit the pro v1 and it seemed to spin less then the V1x. That doesn't seem right but that is the result I got yesterday.

Sounds like you need a soft core, firm cover ball like a Noodle. That way you get the soft feel from the low compression but spin reduction from the firmer cover.

Ok first off the callaway IX is the least spinning of all 4 piece urethane ball and you should maybe try the wilso zip its a zero compression ditance ball so it feels like a balata and spins like a driving range ball

Hmm I can see it now in my amateur tourneys playing a noodle. I think I'm going to give the 09 pro v1 another round as it strangely spun less, also the callaway tour IX, and the TM tp black, maybe the nike tour D but I used nike one balls in the past and didn't like them at all (covers wouldn't even lats 3 holes). Thanks for the feedback, sorry but the only noodle I deal with comes on my plate covered in shrimp and a cream sauce, lol

Not sure why people are recommending the TM TP Black. That is the "spinnier" of the two though I would not reat it as "high" spin. The Red is lower spin than the Black and has a nice, sweet, soft feel. Another to try is the TM Burner (non-TP).

The 09 Pro V spins less for me as well. Try the TaylorMade TP Red if you are looking for less spin but still some feel. Don't go with the Nike One Tour as it is one of the highest spinning balls I have hit. I love the spin but I'm with you when you hit a great wedge shot only to see it spin back over a ridge in the green and run 15 feet back. I hit a lot more 3/4 shots now and skip the ball into the hole and it works much better. I love the Nike One Tour and the spin but I would not recommend this for you.

ii ump you damn well knew it, lol. I have to admit I do have to work on my 3/4 swings more but I think it's going to come down to the prov1 and the callaway tour IX. I'm reading up and the more I read the more I like the callaway tour ix. Real world will be the test though.

update played a few rounds with the callaway tour ix and I am loving the ball. Spins just the right amount for me and it does seem like I'm getting a little more distance (like 5yds). Have to say the biggest surprise is the durability. I was happy with the prov1x in this regard but the callaway is even better. I played 2 rounds with the same ball, to me that's amazing.

what about the Bridgestone e7+? It is suppose to be for the better golfer looking for less spin.... and a lower launch. I use it and can easily get the one hop and stop. it is still a 3 piece ball and feels good to me off the putter. worth a try!

Well I do. I don't want to look down at my ball and see the word "noodle" I mean who in there right mind names a golf ball the "noodle". It's distracting. Oh and I bought a sleeve and figured what the hey, played it today and I wasn't impressed. The ball played ok, spin was ok, distance was ok, not a bad cheap version of a tour ball. The problem aside from "Noodle" being written on the ball was the durability. I went through the entire sleeve in 18 holes. The covers on the ball are just not able to withstand a faster swing speed, I cut all three balls up, each ball lasted maybe 3 holes depending on what my approach shots were into the greens.

I have used the Bridgestone B330/B330s, Nike, ProV1/V1x, and Taylormade TP Red and Black.

 

The Taylormade red, in my opinion, spins the least out of all of them (compared to other top line balls). I love it. I don't need 10 feet back up on my wedges, and I can get balls to stop on a dime with my other irons. It is also the longest ball off the driver I have ever hit. Both ProV's spin a lot more in my opinion, also the 330s.
