You would never know how great a round she had if you depended on ESPN. To them its entirely about Michelle Wie...they have her in a virtual paring with Sorenstam and Creamer...every shot in detail...meanwhile some "little Mexican girl" shoots 62 and hardly a mention...

MW brings the ratings. I can't believe someone shot a 62 in a major.

You are so right about ESPN and there darned ratings. All of the networks are miserable. Show two or three putts, then cut to adverts. Ratings, ratings , ratings...all their coverages are terrible. Cute little Lorena is out there with a record tying round, and all we hear about is MW, Paula, and Morgan. (With all due respect to them, I truly add.) The Golf Channel is getting just as bad.

Thanks for your astute observations.

Great job by Ochoa...but don't blame ESPN and the other channels for how they cover sporting events or who they show. They know their audience and viewers very well. For example just check out how people are arguing and discuss Michelle Wie's invitation to play in the Dere, an event months away. This is getting even more discussion than Phil shooting a 63 today. Yup, ESPN definitely knows what they're doing.

I saw that on the ticker on GolfChannel.......amazing, hopefully she'll continue to play well and win.

Well, I do blame the networks, THEY make an assumption as to what they think the viewers are interested in seeing. For some reason all of them think we, the viewers, are more interested in interviews and fluff pieces than in seeing actual golf. I for one am disgusted with NBC and Bob Costas, who doesn't know a putter from a spatula. They use valuable air time for him to ask Barbara Walters "if you were a twee, what kind of a twee would you be" questions to any player foolosh enough to sit next to him. Yesterday's "virtual pairing" was possibly the most absurd thing I have seen in a golf broadcast....EVER.

MEMO TO ALL GOLF NETWORKS....SHOW US GOLF.....

Definitely, more coverage of women's golf would be welcome!!! Only 2 hrs/day for a MAJOR! No wonder Lorena was largely overlooked yesterday. It certainly didn't help that she had gone out early. The cameras were already committed to following MW's every breathe and "um, you know, I mean" so it took them a while to switch over at least one to try to capture some of Lorena's highlights. Unbelieveable round.

Our (okay, my) expectations are so high for Annika. What's going on with her swing? In the interviews, she gave the same pat responses of "I'm pretty satisfied and playing well".... that sure wasn't the case on the few holes that were shown. Where were her precise iron and approach shots? Not with her. Today, she shot even par and leaving her something like 9 shots to make up on the weekend. Lorena is going to have to really screw up big time to loose this one.
