I was, lol... :) I have two sets of the 681s but no T stamps. I would feel bad playing your set since they're pristine. Oh and that 970 is sweet too. Those are tour only right? I still play the 975F(tour issue one) but I wouldnt mind one of those 970s. Ive seen them on ebay but the head alone is $200-$300.

Are those tour issue vokeys or retail? I have a set of the retail ones, but didnt like the feel after playing the 681s which have tremendous feel. I recently picked up a set of the old japan forged nike wedges which should work well. Im guessing the tour issue Vokeys feel VERY different, from the retail, since they are like $200-$300 on ebay instead of the $60 you can get the retail ones for.

As far as the driver, if you HAVE to have the super bigheads, ATLEAST you picked Titleist. :( The only woods I would play other than Titleist are Taylormade. As you can see by my bag, Im partial to Titleist from top to bottom. The 681s & the T stamps are the last models forged in the US and the softest, best feeling. I have a set of 670s that I travel with since I dont want to take a chance on the airline loosing my 681s :stinker: They are nice but cant touch the 681s by any means.

Go cambo!

The T stamps were fairly pristine for the pics as I had iron covers for about 18 months, but they are well used now, nearly 3 years in the bag and I've played plenty. Just perfect. I will be looking for some refinishers at the end of this year I think......

970 is amazing to hit sweetly, and is well worth a go - you should be able to find one for less than that these days as the Tiger-bubble around them has burst

Vokey 48 is Tour, the others are retail.

The D4 hides its size very well to be honest, as does the R. Your L-FF is a great head too

I hope you meant another set to refinish and not that money set youre playing with now. My second set of 681s (2-pw)I picked up for $125 on ebay! They had more wear, so I picked em up in case I wanted to refinish and use as gamers. I intended to maybe do a satin finish and custom paint fills but the 2 and 3 were not even HIT. I would hate to messup that original sweet chrome finish. lol

Can you really tell a big difference in that tour vokey and the retail ones? Is it softer? Does it give you a forged feel at all? Since you play those serious blades, you know what I mean by feeling the ball on the clubface, not just feeling the impact.

The largest head Ive hit is my 7.5* 983E, which is deeper instead of larger, but its not as sweet as the L-FF. I actually picked up a tour issue 975J that Im thinking about gaming for a bit.

I meant after another season, maybe 2, I would get the heads on this set refinished. Either that or locate another set!

Tour Vokey does feel a little different than a retail one but I've never hit a retail 48 with pured PX in it, and I think that is a much bigger difference than anything in the head.
