Need Some Advice on Places to Play

Looking for suggestion on which courses to play. I've never been there, so i'm looking to play some of the best courses out there. I would like to play at 3 different locations, so rate your top 3 if you have been out there. Thanks for your suggestions.

As far as my personal experience, I have played 3 MB courses- Rivers Edge, Glen Dornoch and Prestwick...Liked Glen Dornoch and Prestwick alot, wasn't impressed with Rivers Edge although it is highly rated by golf digest and many who have played it.

I'm heading down in Aug and playing 2 courses that get great reviews- Heritage and Thistle.

Others that are highly spoken of: TPC, Caledonia, Barefoot(s), Long Bay, Dunes, Grand Dunes, Oyster Bay, The Cats (Leopards Chase specifically)

Hands down, World Tours is worth a look. I also like TPC Myrtle Beach (I can play there on the cheap), and Man O War.

I've not played Heritage but I agree 100% on the other 3. I like the Barefoot courses too.

Tidewater is a must, either of the Dunes courses, any of the Barefoot courses, Leopard's Chase, the Legends courses, Glen Dornoch, True Blue, Caledonia. All places I've played that are awesome. If it's finished, Jaguar's Lair is supposed to be sick. Haven't played it yet because I don't think it was finished last time I was down. Will be down in a month and definitely playing the Lair if it's open yet.

I was in MB in July - had a great time.

Best courses I have played down there...

1. The Dunes (used to host the seniors tour)
2. Caledonia (Best kept course i have played)
3. Barefoot Dye - great course, very tough.

Also, go for lunch at Little Pigs BBQ on 17 bypass - best BBQ on the beach!

Kings North, a Jack course, is very sweet but pretty expensive too tho then

in the am, most likely it will be tougher...golfdesk.com is a pleasure to work with and gets some of the best rates.

I should also add..... save time after your round to spend time on the patio/deck at Caledonia overlooking the 18th green. Great fun ... having a cigar and beer and watching the groups come over the water to that green. Some of the more interesting crowds will do some wagering as to whether you clear the water and hit the green. Interesting because you can hear them betting on you while you are in the fairway. Good stuff.

Also - I play with a group that ranges between scratch and 18 hcp. Tidewater is right at the top for all levels. True Blue seems to be a favorite with the lower handicap group ... not the higher handicap group as much.

Kings North is nice too. It's a really fun track to play. Extremely risk-reward focused course.
