Yesterday I checked out the "To-BCBackT" target on my SG5 and sure enough you were right 23muc. The yardage given represents the distance from the corrent position and the back of the longest tee box. As you approach this location the distance counts down and vice versa. The only possible usefullness of this I can think of is an indication of the distance from the green to the next tee box. When playing an unfamiliar course it is sometimes possible to go to the wrong tee/hole. The To-BCBackT number would be useful in avoiding this mistake.

I have a 2.5 and you're all right it corresonds to the back tee distance on my home course as well. As for usefulness, I'll take a wild stab here as I can't come up with anything else.

If you are playing a course that provides yardage books with the greens fee or you buy one for whatever reason. In a lot of these books It will have a little chart off the side of distance from Point A to Spot 1. A being the back tee, location 1 being clearing a bunker or some other hazard. Most of the se books also show Point B,C and D from the other tee boxes to the same point. However, if it only has the back box, you can use the distance on the SC to subtract from the yardage in the book.

I know that's a stretch, the only other thing would be if you have playing partners that are playing from the back tees and you want to see on each hole how much of a distance difference there is between where they tee off from and where you shots land.

Other than that, I've got nothing

In addition to my Green to Tee box distance, your uses also seem logical Carolina. What use Sky Caddie had in mind remains a mystery since there is no reference to this abbreviation in the manual. A great product however. I find it to be very useful. One of the most useful features I find is measuring the distance I hit the ball (when I get a clean hit that is). I have been keeping track and averaging the numbers. This is very useful.

Mike, yeah I wish I got to use the Mark feature more often, meaning I use it on what I consider very good drives :) I've also used it on iron shots when I'm laying up on a par 5 2nd shot, just to verify my iron distance.

As has been said here many times about the Sky Caddie, the mark feature can be very humbling and bring you back to reality.
Carolina, for sure the mark feature can be humbling. I noticed that the distance from the marked location counts up on the lower right hand of the screen and this is useful since you can leave it counting while you walk to others tee shots as well as your own!
Exactly. That is a great part of the Mark. Also gives you a reference for future, say you didn't quite catch all of the drive and there is a hazard looming ahead, keep it running walk up to the bunker or creek and next time you'll know exactly how far it is to that bunker or to carry it.

I had a real life example of this, my home course rerouted one of the holes last year and added a new fairway bunker on the right. It looks easy to carry, but I ended up in it almost every time or to the left of it. So one time I finally with the mark on, walked to the end of the bunker and it was like 242 yards, which is a bit more than I normally carry my driver, but from the tee if you went by the 150 marker in the fairway you're thinking it's about 190 or so to carry it. Now I know not to even attempt it and play the ball further left.

I don't thinkSC has been back out to update this as it doesn't show on that hole.

 • 2 weeks later...
I was tinkering with my sg5 while at the golf course today. If you scroll down while in the 'target view' you will find the abbreviation spelled out "To:BackCutBacKT". The distance given matches your position relative to the back edge of the tee. I'm not experienced enough to know how this is useful however.
Most caddies when they laser hazards / tragets do it from the back cut of the back tee. When in the event where lasers or GPS is not allowed they will step off the distance from the back cut of the back tee to the daily location of the tee markers. This will give them accurate numbers for the days competition.

For none tournament use (where GPS is allowed) the number is meaningless as the GPS does all of this for you.
