Here are a few pics I snapped of our Az golfwrx summer outing. Overall a great day with some great members here on the forums. Overall the course was fantastic, fairways were a tad soggy but the course played great.
Overall it still remains one of my top 10 must play Phoenix area courses for both Raptor and Talon, great place to play with great service and fantastic 19th hole with Phil's Grill. Enjoy the pics and thanks to the fellow Wrxers who came out and made it a great day. Thanks to everyone at Grayhawk who helped make this a great day for us. For those looking for a great golf experience in Phx Grayhawk is a must play.

Looking back to the clubhouse from number 10 tee

Aproach from the short par 4 number 10

The brutal 230 yard par 3 I almost pitched in for birdie from the bottom left of the green.

IIRC this is the 468 yard par 4 tee shot

The stunning 205 yard par 3 17th

Our second into the Par 5 18th from 245 out. Would have been closer but all of us hit about 260 or so carry and all of our balls backed up from their pitch marks. Great risk closing reward hole that slopes hard from left to right tee to green.

But Matt, c'mon, I am true to We Ko Pa's bunkers...

I see the trail of a ball though....were you studying this shot particularly thoroughly?..lol..

Guysm, just curious, how long is that 8th hole(par 3)- the last of tom's shots(great color btw).

175 on the card (back tees) and the pin was tucked and back (+8). My group played the 2nd tee which was 157 on the card and playing to about 165. I stuck a nice 6i to 5 ft. above the hole - then missed the bird with a feeble attempt (downhill right to left breaker...)

Thanks. I had a hunch that was the distance. Or more accurately, that it was not a 200 yard par 3. That has the look of a great hole, and it does not require all that yardage.

Par 3s can be awesome at these lenghts as well.

Pat, I actually came up short on that one and did get out of the bunker in one but took two putts to get down. The par 3 in tjys post played 183 for us I hit 6 iron to the middle of the green and two putted for par. Agree on the group picture cant believe I forgot to get one taken.

WeKoPa does have the best bunkers....absolutely perfect...Troon right behind

I've played both and also agree, The Raptor is the better of the two. IIRC it has the "Swinging Bridge" par 3 hole. Get the Sliders at Phil's Grill afterwards

Actually the swinging bridge hole is on talon, one of two really good par 3's on Talon the other being the short 115 yard #17 with the lake around it

from what I remember, I liked talon more than raptor, mostly because of the par 3's and the driveable par 4 on the backside. But then again, I think I only really got a look at Raptor from the desert, so I might be biased haha

Talon can be eliminated from consideration as a good golf course simply by the presence of the awful island green par 3.
