Looking for a new putter.

it's that time again

I just recently purchase all name brand stuff for this year and buying a name brand putter last year started it all for me. I used to play knockoffs from driver to putter but now i'm looking for a putter better than my Odyssey DFX 6600. I know I have a putting flaw because I sometimes flip my hands through impact which greatly effects my distance and accuracy. So i'm thinking a heavier putter may help me but i'm using a book of drills to fix the flaw. I'm looking at the following putters but i'm not limited to these:

TaylorMade Mezza Monza with AGSI insert

Nickent pipe putter #1

Heavy putter, mallet style.

Any other suggestions would be great and thanks in advance. later, steve

Well my vote is for the Mezza Monza with the AGSI..........

 

First you need to work on that popping motion with your putting but once you do that you will find that with the AGSI insert your distance control will greatly improve. That is why I play the Monza Corza myself because of the great distance control I get with this putter.

Try the new Odyssey SRT 2 or 3 ball putters. Very stable and easy to line up!

Try out the heavy putter if you are flipping your hands. Next to impossible to do that with this putter. Even if you use it for a training aid to get used to using the larger muscles and have a different putter for your gamer.

id go with a futura or red x if ur looking for a mallet.....scotty makes great putters and imho far better then the 1s u mentioned. very soft yet very solid

At this moment in time i'm gonna say that i cannot afford a scotty but until i'm able to physically try them out and see what the performance is, I'm gonna say that buying a scotty is like buying a Cadillac when really it's a GM underneath. Of course i would like to try one out and purchase one but in my neck of the woods the putters are usually locked away and used for display purposes only. So to live within my means i can afford about a 150.00 putter at this time. Just my two cents

well you can get a futura in good condition for 115 ish on ebay and some have gon throgh wrx

I have used Scotty's before for many years and I am here to tell you that in no way shape or form is a Scotty Cameron softer feeling than any of the TaylorMade AGSI series putters............

 

There is absolutely nothing bad about a Scotty.............Scotty people are going to hate this...........but I really hate people saying Scotty's are better just because they cost more money. You have to find the putter that you like because putting is such an individual feel from person to person. You can find some great putters out there with far better feel for you at alot less money that can make just as many putts.

 

Just go with the putter that feels and looks better to you and you can't go wrong............

You should also try Nike Oz T130. I really think it is under rated. The putter is really easy to align and so easy to hit it where you are aiming. The perimeter weight on the rear side makes it really hard to twist the putter off the line. If you don't mind a slightly lighter putter I'd suggest trying it out at golf stores and see how you like it.

i second the futura.....i saw a used one going for around 130 and to this day....i still kick myself in the Word not allowed for not getting it..........

 

otherwise...the yes! golf putters are pretty awesome.......look at the mallet style.....they look alittle weird but whatever it takes to sink that putt right?

This is the putter that replaced my Odyssey 6600 last season but now it's worked itself back into my bag. It's a TurboPower ZTOUR putter that is a knockoff of a PING G2 Craz-e. The putter weighs well over 300 grams and gives the ball such a nice roll. It's also very nice around the green as well. I purchased this putter from my local flee market who sells these putters with other equipment from TurboPower and i added the grip becasue it looks better and felt better. I"m not saying that TurboPower is better than PING i'm just saying that this putter works for me now which we all know could change. Attached are the pics of the putter so you guys can see how close the knockoffs look to the real thing.

I don't know what the weight is on the Tri-Ball, but to me it feels light. When I was looking for a heavier putter I checked out the Ping Craz-E and Ug-le. I went with the Ug-le as it was 5 grams heavier (I couldn't tell the difference) and I liked the straight line on it to help my alignment (although the Craz-E half-circle also works great).

 

The MacGregor Bobby Grace MOI putters also feel a bit heavy-ish as well as the Ben Hogan Bettinardi's.

 

Even though the Tri-Ball didn't feel that good I did like the White Steel 2-ball, and if I didn't already have the Ping I would probably hold out for the 2-Ball SRT before making a final decision.

You might also want to take a look at the new Mizuno/Bettinardi A series. Face balanced MOI putters. They look really good with the dark finish.

 

I've never been a fan of insert putters, so I naturally gravitate towards milled putters. I'd definately give them a shot. The craftsmanship is top notch, and if past performance is any indication, they should be a real winner.

 

They're not priced too badly either, at $180.
