Set Compostion Question

Help!!!
Hey everyone!!

First time post, like this site a lot!!

I have a question on set make up. Dont hold back your opinions please:

Thinking of one of these scenarios:

Game: Index is a weak 5, miss alot of greens. Grind out good rounds.

which set up do you like most?:
1) Driver (270)
3 wood (245)
16* Rescue TP (225) or lay into (240)
Nike Driving Iron (21*)
695 CB 4-PW
CG10's 52 and 58

2)
Driver
16* rescue TP
19* rescue TP
695cb's 4-PW
wedges 52, 56 and 60

or 3)
Driver
3 Wood (15*)
19* rescue TP
4-PW 695 cbs
51, 56 and 60

I know the 695's are stronger lofts which I like, but the 4 iron is 23* which is too close (Actually hit it as far as the driving iron), so I thought I would list that I knew this!!!

Thanks in advance!!! I am getting this all taken care of this week, so I appreciate it!!

I like option 3 the best.

I have a very similar setup atm. My setup is:

Driver

3 Wood

19° Rescue TP

4 iron - Pitching wedge

50° Gap wedge

54° Sand

I am thinking of changing my setup to:

Driver, 3wood, Rescue TP 19°, 3iron-Pitching wedge, 54° Sand, 60° Lob (just because I need stiffer shafts, but changing shafts cost almost as much as buying new + I want new irons)

The new set of irons would have weaker lofts than yours (and the ones I play atm).

With the 695cb being 2° stronger than normal, there is probably no big gap distance-wise to your Rescue, but its probaly wise to test them and check distance gaps, also using a 3iron.

Best wishes,

Nille

I like option 3 as well. Analyzing the yardage gaps between clubs is helpful. But also consider the frequency with which you use each club.

When you miss greens, do you use one club around the green, or would you benefit from additional wedge(s)?

My current bag (for shorter courses):

Driver

15* wood

19* hybrid

#4-9

48,52,56,60

#4i bent 2* strong, 5i bent 1* strong to maintain yardage gaps between clubs

Sometimes, on longer courses, I replace my 56 and 52 with a 54...and take out the hybrid, replacing it with my trusty 5w and 3i from years gone by.

I like bag #1, I think the others create too large of a gap between your hybrid and 4i. It also gives you plenty of options around the greens with three wedges; four may be a little overkill. If I did have a distance gap I would rather have it closer to the pin where I have more shot options, like a punch, low spinner, higher flop, ect..... When you get farther out you are basically forced to hit the same shot and have to kill a club or guess and take some off a club. My 2 cents.

I like #3 - let's face it, today's PW is not really a PW - it's yesterday's 9i - so your 51, 56, 60 are your wedges - if the bounce and grind varies, you've got a versatile set.

You've got enough options at the bottom of the bag with the 3 wd and 19 TP, then start with the 4i - should be fine.

Nice setup - but I understand it may vary depending on conditions and the course you play that day.

Driver

3 Wood (15*)

19* rescue TP

4-PW 695 cbs

51, 56 and 60

Id for with this set up as you say you miss a lot of greens & maybe 4 wedges will make sure you get up and down more :golfer:

Myself personally, I think the way to go is:

Driver

13 - 15* 3wood

18 - 20* Hybrid

3 - 9 irons

49* 54* 59* wedges

Get a deep faced driver, hit a strong 3 into the par 5s, hybrid for long par 3s/tight driving holes, irons for iron shots, 3 wedges for getting up n down. Easy!

Early in hand photos of the new GT2 models t the truck.  As soon as they show up on the range in player's bags we'll get some better from the top photos and hopefully some comparison photos against the last model.
