A forgotten Ayrshire Gem- Lots of pictures

Better late than never, Myself and three friends made our second trip up to the Ayrshire coast this year. This was approx 30 days ago and the only good days weather we had! (70mph wind and rain one one day :russian_roulette: ) as some may know, the Ayrshire coastline is known for its world class golf courses including Troon, Turnberry & Prestwickand the likes of Western Gailes & the new up and coming Dundonald Links. We tended to stick to the lesser knowns although we have played Dundonald, Barassie (all 27 holes), Glasgow Gailes and one of the municipal courses in troon (Darley). West Kilbride was new on our Rota and for the small sum of £45 we were given a great treat. A bit further up from Prestwick towards Irvine approx 15 minutes in the Roland-mobile :)

The first few holes run along some fields to the right which give off a part heathland feel, however after 5 holes you are greeted by the wonderful links. we were gifted with a light 10-15mph breeze and glorious sunshine, a rarity the locals will tell you. We were given permission to play from the back tee's at 6548 yards with a par & sss of 71. I would not want to play this golf course any other way (back tee's) as it's true beauty and required skill is shown from them.

The isle of Arran was in full view and you will see it and the ocean in a fair few pictures. We were literally 10 metres from the beach. I'll let the pictures do the rest of the talking but I would suggest anyone visiting this part of Scotland to think about playing such a wonderful hidden gem like this :)

Thanks for the report and nice photos. Where is West Kilbride located in relationship to Western Gailes/ Glasgow Gailes?

I just looked it up on Google maps...., about 14 miles North of Gailes.

Yep you got it It a pretty simple drive.

Got a text message from a pal today who just finished 18 holes at west kilbride. Apparently he could barely see for rain and it was howling.

Guess I didnt know how lucky we were that day
