Golf Logix on the IPhone or SkyCaddie 2.5

Help me choose

I tried the 24 hour free trial of the Golf Logix App on the IPhone and thought it was very useful and accurate. I have also used Sky Caddie 2.5 with similar results. They both cary $40 yearly fees but with the iphone i do not have to buy a separate unit? What are your experiences? Thanks for the input.

Never tried the golflogix but I have the golfshot gps on my iphone and it's been fantastic. No yearly fees either.

I had the original Sky Caddie, but have always found rangefinders much more useful. Today, however, I used the Golflogix trial on my iPhone and was thoroughly impressed. One of the other guys in my group had his SG5 and the iPhone application was in line with it on pretty much every hole. Loved the statistics and shot measurement ability. A couple of times it "stuck" and a couple of times I felt like the yardages were off some when measuring drives (it seems like the unit stop counting yardage before I got to the ball). The only problem was that this was a 5 hour round (typical "holiday" golf where the 1 time a year family golfers come out), so I barely got it in before the battery went dead. All in all, however, I was quite impressed. I'm trying "Golfshot" application tomorrow on a friends iPhone before I decide which one to buy.

Golfshot GPS is excellent and gets better with every update.

The biggest limitation is Iphone battery life. Dedicated gps units are far superior in that category.

My suggestion is to get the Golflogix gps unit for $199 at Amazon. Got one six months back and absolutely love it. Childishly simple. Just turn it on and look at it. You don't have to do anything unless you want to use other features like measure the exact distance of a tee shot. This requires pushing a button on the side of the unit. Pretty tough. Ha ha... Love that feature by the way. Nice to see a gap wedge is exactly 106 yards or the 7 iron was exactly 161. How cool is that? The unit is 100% waterproof and very well built. Just get the bag/clip accesory and put the thing on your golf bag where the towel ring is, when pulling a club, look at it, then go hit the shot. That is all there is to it. $300 on most websites, but was $199 at Amazon last week. Also, like 400 four star reviews on Amazon if you want to read up on the unit a bit. Links below...

Based on all the glowing reviews of Golfshot here at Golfwrx, I went ahead and purchased it. BIG MISTAKE! That is the worst piece of crap I think I've ever purchased. That program is not even in the same stratosphere as Golflogix in terms of simplicity of use and overall quality. I was shocked at how poor the Golfshot performed. Good lord, I had to wait almost a minute between shots to ever get a signal, whereas the Golflogix yesterday was there and updated as soon as I was at the ball. The aerial photos of Golfshot are basically so blurry they're worthless. You have to go through about 15 more steps just to register stats in this when compared to GolfLogix. In short, this entire application was poorly conceived. I don't think I've ever felt as "swindled" with an application as I do with the Golfshot. I'm still in shock so many people at WRX actually liked this piece of garbage.

Wow, [i]Ruleschamp[/i], I've been using Golfshot for a couple weeks and have had ZERO issues with it. It performs as well as my old SkyCaddies (SG2 & SG4), and evenly matched up with an SG5 my playing partner was using. No issues with satellite interaction nor with battery consumption. It has been an excellent choice for the one-time $30 fee.

Add another who loves Golfshot.

The app is amazing simple, the aerial photographs are fine and the charts and website are fantastic. Factor in the one time charge and I love it.

Any golf GPS app on the iPhone is non-conforming so it is an easy call, any Skycaddie.

I'm another happy GolfShot owner.
Actually I own GolfShot and Golf Logix for my iPhone as well as a uPro GPS.
I mostly use my iPhone and GolfShot... excellent.
I had to search my iPhone because GolfLogix sounded familiar... sure enough, I own
it but it must not have been very impressive since I haven't used it since August.
As I mentioned before, I usually don't even bother to take my uPro GPS with me
anymore because GolfShot is so useful to use.
Just my 2 cents.
