Miura Conforming Grooves

signed for my Kwok'ed set of 1957 blades with conforming grooves on weekend.

took some pics of the new grooves for you lot before I took them out.

left is Y-wedge with old grooves. right is 1957 PW with new grooves.
I think the little sign after MIURA name (like a reverse K in a circle) is what they use to mark the new grooves


my observations: spacing is the same, you can see in the last picture that the edges are less sharp in the new grooves and there is a bit less volume.

hang on, aren't you the guy who ditched them baby blades for epon blades and then for wilsons?

i don't know if it's the miura or the kwok'ing but that set will be with me TDDUP.

wedges came back from the re-shaft into 1/2in tipped s300 that Joe provided to complement the soft-stepped x100 in the rest of set. stand by for the full set shot before I scuff them up.

not everyone can afford good woods, besides that thing goes longer than most peoples drivers (longer than mine actually, sign of a well matched set)

I can see you went with the 51* Y wedge presumably to match closer to the PW sole? Then the 54* and ?* have what soles? C's?

sorry for head-covers, the purpose is to avoid dirty looks from blade haters and the benefit of fewer dings.

 

shafts are x100 softstep, and they feel smoother than s400 in my old set ever did. i haven't shed a drop of sweat in two range sessions, just lazy swings and they absolutely rocket off the face. Fly high, same as S400 on my j33b I'd say, which worried me first, but I had gusty side wind yesterday on the range, they didn't get affected at all.

 

the PW is 47* so i went for 51* Y wedge and dropped 2i, cause i had a big 140-115 gap from 48* to 54* in the past, and I was always either 2i or 4i in long irons, 3i never had any use, so I can always bend 3i a degree stronger if I need it longer in the future, also it has plenty of height on it, I can experiment with de-lofting for extra yards. I think of the 51* more as PW so it's shafted same as rest of set (deadly accurate that club) and I bent SW 54* to 55*. SW and LW are just your plain Miura satins. They are shafted S300 36.5, which is a 0.5in tipped S300 PW shaft (Joe reckons most people get better dispersion than S400 I originally intended to put in) - it feels noticeably smoother than the x100 in 51* and much more accurate than Miura fitted S300 my wedges had before (especially in distance control).

Actually, It's a special wedge shaft that come raw at 36.5" instead of the regular 37".

D, What you've described actually what a lot of my customers told me when the club was spined and installed properly.

In fact one of a pro friends who played on PGA tour shot 60 with a boogie on the 18th told me that it feels automatic aimed and shoot. That 60 scored is good enough to match the course record. This happened 1 week after I blueprinted his whole set.

All I can remember, i asked him why he boogied that 18th? He told me he lost focus thinking what he is gonna say on camera if he made 59 course record.
