The future of Driving Range Practice

I have seen the future of driving range practice. It's called Trackman the Game.

If you have ever wanted to practice with a trackman setup they way tour pros do, you will soon have the opportunity. Trackman the game is installed in two facilities in the US right now, but I expect shortly many more will be added. Trackman the game will change the way you practice and I think can really make an impact on the scores and handicaps of those players who take advantage of it. I am not affiliated in any way with trackman, but I got the chance to use it and I am now a big fan of it.

I wanted to add one more thing about this. Although there's only two facilities in the US (one in Michigan and one in Tappan, NY) I think this will spread pretty quickly. I know about another facility in CT that's exploring it (and I hope they get it). If you're near one of those facilities you should check it out. What I liked about it is how focused the practice becomes. You know how people talk about how they can't bring their range game to the course. This is one way to bridge that. This makes your range practice feel more like being on the course than anything else I've seen.

Z, what is the charge for each "game" at the place you go to?

We have something similar in the Chicago are called TOP Golf. Not quite as advanced as trackman, but still Target Oriented Practice, hence TOP Golf. Check them out at www.topgolfusa.com

The balls have sensors in them and as you hit them in various targets, you score. It also shows the distance for each ball that lands in a target.

Can you play 18? On the sim place I go, you can, I don't think hitting at a target the whole time would be fun.

Trackman the game is one of the greatest things for your practice. I am the fortunate one who has one at my range, Tappan, NY, and its a lot of fun especially some of the games. Also good for two people to compete against one another in practice. The only problem i have is that its a little bit on the expensive side but most definitely the future of golf ranges in America.

So, what happens is that you buy a block of minutes and the time starts counting down when you log in, and it stops counting when you log out, or run out.

Top Golf is pretty cool. I checked out the website. The nice thing about track man the game is you also get statistics like your launch angle, ball speed, etc, and you can review all of your practice online afterwards.

I think they 4. Could be more, but I'm pretty sure it's 4.
