tm r7 shaft question

would a change to a v2 or prolaunch bring it back to life?

was wondering what shaft came standard with the original r7 from last year. i am a big fan of this club as the 400+ heads are a little much for me right now, but sometimes i feel as if i could be getting more out of this club with a change of shaft., i vaguely remember hearing the stock shaft in the r7 wasn't that great. i know a shaft change won't change my game but i want to get a little more out of this club then i'm getting now. debating either the v2 or a prolaunch but any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated. The R7 Quad came with the m.a.s. 2 7-65 shaft, some came out later with a Fuji 757. The R7 TP came with either the Fuji Six, Fuji 757 or the Mitsu Diamana 83.

 

Myself, I've got an R7 TP with a Fuji Zcom MW-54 and an R7 Tour with a Rombax 6V05, I'm a Fuji fan and I do like the both of them. :)

The best shaft is the one that fits YOU and your SWING. Shafts are made with different bend profiles for a reason, since no two people swing the club alike,

 

Taking advise from people over the internet about what shafts they've liked in a particular head is a lot like playing russian roulette since you've never seen them swing and have no idea why these shafts fit them.

 

Personally I wouldn't EVER take shaft advise from anyone unless:

1. I had seen them swing and knew that they swing the golf club close to the way I do

or

2. They are a certified fitter and know a ton about shafts and golf swings. They put me on a launch monitor and fit me based on my swing and montior numbers.

or

3. They have experience with tons of golf shafts and ask me a lot of questions about how I swing the club and what shaft's I've played with in the past. Again using launch montior numbers as a starting point.

 

Just my $.02 take it FWIW.

 

If you provide a little more info about your swing and possibly some launch monitor numbers, I think the knowledgeable members here can help get you started in the right direction.

While i do love both the shafts you talked about, it is better to follow what taylormadefan is suggesting. That is the only way to know if those shafts are right for you.

what tm suggests? this shaft feels like a board to me when i hit it, are you saying i stick it out with this shift or is there a list of suggestions for shafts?

I think what he is saying is that "Shaft A, B and C" might work for some, but that does not mean they will work for you. You can't take recommendations from others and expect them to be the perfect fit for you. You need to find a clubfitter that will help to point you in the right direction.

 

For example: I have a TM R7 and was not getting the ball flight that I really wanted, so I recently went to a clubfitter. We spent over an hour on a launch monitor hitting 15 different shafts and in the end the numbers pointed me in the right direction.
