all new for 2010
finally have my bag put together for this year after a LOT of ho'ing over the winter. Strangely, my bag has become an Adam's bag after always playing Titleist..

Anyway, thanks to all members at GolfWRX where an awful lot of this has come from!!!

Driver:
Adams 9015D 9.5* hooked up with a Diamana Whiteboard. I went through about 4 different combos of loft and shafts before getting the best LM numbers with this combo...

Fairways:

This is probably the only remainder in my bag from last year and I've yet to find something to knock it out. Taylormade r7 st TS. Head was never made available retail. Has been hotmelted, and shafted up with an Aldila Voodoo SNV7. Real loft 12.8* and it is a BOMBER.

Adams Tour issue Speedline Classic Hy/Fairway 20* (bent to just under 19*) shafted up with a tour issue Graphite Design YSQ with no retail graphics. I found this shaft on eBay. The guy lived about 10 mins away and didn't have a clue what he had. Paid a whopping $30 for the shaft. The area on the shaft just below the grip is clear and you can see the axis weave used by GD. Sweet stick!!

Hybrid:
I spent a lot of time with hybrids over the winter testing to see which one I liked, hit the best, could work, and most importantly, fit the gap I needed. I ended up with a tour issue Adams PNT V2 in 22*. It's shafted up with another Aldila Voodoo SNV8 Hybrid shaft. I honestly wasn't a believer in the hype about the peanut and never personally cared for the look of the V1 peanut... but this one will probably have to be pryed from my cold and stiff hands.

Irons:

Adams a4 Forged, 5-P with DG S300's. These came to me from another user on here VERY lightly used and with PX 5.5's (hate them). Once again I tried to like the PX, and once again I could not. I guess I'm a Dynamic Gold guy. I even bought a 6 iron head from another user on here and had it shafted up with a KBS Tour. Numbers on the LM are just better for me with the DG's. These started as shiny chrome, but have now been converted into Satin with a little elbow grease and some time. MUCH more pleasing to the eye at address. I regripped them with the new Lamkin N-Dur after trying a couple on some of my hybrids I tested. Can't say enough about this grip... looks great and feels even better.
Adamsa4.jpg

Wedges:
thanks to Adams and their "strong" lofts, wedges from last year no longer fit. The PW from the a4's is set at 46*. What seems to be working on the LM at least is to carry the a4PW, a 52*, a 58* and a 64*. The 64* may not be in the bag at times because when it is, I'll have to drop either the Speedline Classic 20* FW/Hybrid, or the 22* Peanut V2... neither of which I want to give up. And really the 64* is only good from 50 yds and in, but it's really good for those few shots, for me at least.

52* Hakusa Tour Wedge - without doubt, the softest feel of any head I've ever hit. Don't ask me what the "DHIKA" stands for, because I have no clue. If you'd like to come up with some catchy meaning for it, I'll be glad to use it! "Dont Hit It Kooky Word not allowed"?? Gotta be better than that lame attempt!

Cleveland CG15 58*
CG1558.jpg

Stand by... here's a really special one... this club was found on the course last summer, very near the trunk of a rather large tree that overhangs a green on one of my local muni's. Actually, let's just say that the head and about 8" of a steel shaft were found. I guess the guy didn't like it. I figured I'd throw a shaft in it and see how it felt so I put a Vokey steel shaft in it and fell in love. It goes only one way no matter what swing I seem to put on it, and that's straight up. Heavy grass, no grass... doesn't seem to matter. If I come up short of the green, or off to the side, or long, whatever, I know that with a full swing, I can get this thing 45 yards and stop it immediately. Half swing is perfect for those misses that are 15-20 yards off. These are the shots that have always cost ME the most strokes in a round.... trying to guess what to do with PW, or SW.... this one fits me perfect for those shots. It's ugly.. it's cheap (hell, it was free) but I like it a lot.
Pinemeadows64.jpg

And there you have it! A "Pinemeadows". It's probably a really high dollar, tour issue, super duper titanium based alloy that can only be cast on the dark side of the moon, club that Tiger used to use. I dunno. rolleyes.gif

Thanks for looking!!

oh man... totally forgot my favorite club in the bag...

I'll just let the pics do the story... another MAGNIFICIENT purchase made on this wonderful site..

thanks cree! that's exactly what I did. Bought a 3 pack of them and just started with the one I bought as an extra to put a KBS shaft in for LM numbers. Just went with firm, smooth strokes, ONE WAY... heel to toe, and all the way up to the top of the toe in one stroke, then repeat. And repeat. And repeat. ad nauseum... it takes awhile depending on how "satin" you want them. Then I did the face area, but just the inside smooth area and the outside smooth area of the face, i.e. not the grooves. Then I did the hosel. Then lastly I did the outside border of the face. It takes a good while, so don't get in a hurry. I've gone through 6 pads as the abrasive part wears down pretty quick. I think it was WELL worth it though!

That is exactly my plan..... thanks for the blueprint!!!! I wish more club manufacturers did satin finish, they just look sooo much better than the chrome. I'll post some pics when they are done.

The satin finish looks interesting. Can I use that technique to my r7 tp's or even vokeys?
[/quote]

I've done it to a chrome vokey and a couple of r7's I had in another bag as well. They both turned out as well. If you search on here, you'll find a topic about doing it. A number of folks have used the same process to give the clubs a satin look instead of the bright chrome.

no, not even close. The scotchbrite pad removes very little chrome... negligible even. I'd describe it more like looking like a shiny chrome club's sole that's been hit for awhile (typical "brush" marks), only done uniformly across the sole, until the chrome simply doesn't look like a mirror finish anymore.

thanks for the comments on the a4's... had them at the range today since the sun was out and we made it into the 50's, and for whatever reason, the DG S300's are just the right shaft for me. I love them. Gaps are perfect between clubs finally.

After hitting the Peanut v2 finally outside, I'm reluctantly letting it go from the bag. The gap between my a4 5 iron and the 20* Speedline Classic is just about perfect, so I have no need for such a great club. I wish now I'd have found one in a 16*, but luckily I managed to pry a 17* Speedline Classic with a Code-8 Matrix which should fill a large hole between the r7 3wd (13*) and the Classic 20*. Hopefully I'll have it by this weekend.

I wish I could claim to be able to use the 64* like Phil, but for me, it's just a nice little tool where I need it most.... short yardages where I'm forced to take a partial swing. Being a "digger", I have a tough time with 1/2 or 1/4 swings. This thing allows me to put a full swing on it and only hit it 50 yards.
