Agency to get your name out there?

just curious if anyone here has used an agency to get recruited, i.e ( University Prospects) or something along the line,

is it worth the money if your not a top end prospect?

unless your a top 100 golfer in the nation, your gonna struggle getting your name out.

lots of big tournament top finishes will get your name out. I went through it 4 years ago, its a tough thing to go through.

be persistent, email and write as many coaches as possible, Ping College Guide helps.

college golf coaches want great players, but they don't wanna look deep a lot of the times.

Type a golf resume and letter of interest to email out.

you can go to national jr golf scoreboard and look at recent signees and sort of see where you fall--what level of schools to send info to. The scoring differential they show is based on events reported to them...you can check out you ranking if you have played in enought reported events.
Rememeber, the scoing differential you see is based only on tournament play...not a USGA handicap.


find schools that have around 3+ that graduate when you do (i.e. if you are a junior, look for 2 or 3 juniors on roster) and contact them. Find a place to post a swing video like [url="http://www.collegegolfresumes.com"]www.collegegolfresumes.com[/url]

Send info to schools just above, at, and just below your ability level.

Play as many tournaments as possible. I was approached by coaches while at tournaments and thats how I wound up at the school I was at. But if you are just playing local tournaments that are just in your state then you will not get much notariaty since you are not probably playing the best competition out there.

Also like everyone else said, create a resume and send it out to the colleges, if you have won events and scored consistently around par for the most part then the majority of schools will want you.

What events have you won? What have you shot in torunaments? Have you done major events? (i.e. National Amateur, MGA (not just junior tournaments), AJGA) Also have you won any awards? I won the local scholar athlete award since my parents promoted my school resume and golf resume to the board and it was as simple as that, coaches like to see that you are doing well in the classroom too.

I will try to locate my golf resume and possibly post it on here so you can get a prime example if you like. But I am not even sure where it is lol. Probably covered in dust.
