My First Set & WITB

Recommended Posts

Nike, WH, TM
This is my first WITB, and my first set of clubs. I originally played my dads Wilson pro selects and then bought my own woods, got irons for christmas, a bag (which i updated already), then bought myself a putter, driver, and 5 wood. I took alot of pics because i have absolutely nothing to do today and its rainy and miserable. SO here you go

WITB

Bag: Nike Sasquatch Tour Stand bag
Driver: Nike Machspeed 10.5 Regular SQ UST Proforce AXIVCore

W/ Stiff Aldila Voodoo svr6
3 Wood: Walter Hagen AWS 15 Regular Aldila NV-65
5 Wood: Nike Machspeed 17 Stiff SW UST Proforce ACIVCore
4-SW: Nike Slingshot 4d Graphite regular
* all irons and wedges match for now. The sandwedge was cheap at like $30
60* Miura Forged Lob Wedge (Thank you GolfWRX!)
Putter: TaylorMade Daytona 1

all accessories and balls are generally Nike... Nike Dri-fit Tw glove, Durafeel for practice, Nike Crush Vapor/Tour d ball...ect

honestly i chose nike because i was familiar with it. I was/am new to golf and never had much experience with manufacturers like titleist, mizuno, calloway, TM, ect. my dad wasnt into golf, he has a regular wilson complete set that was forever old and i didnt have friends who golfed. I got into on my own and that sparked interest in my friends. So when searching for equipment i chose first, what was familiar to me and that was Nike. Hit the slingshots against other clubs in the same general GI category as recommended by GG associates and liked the Slingshots the most.

After much research on brands, newer clubs, hitting at demo days and my friends newly purchased clubs, i do not regret the decision in any way. I may have gone about my purchasing process differently but i feel i would have ended up in the same position with these clubs so im really happy with the purchase. The irons then led to the driver and then 5 wood. I originally had a Walter Hagen driver.

and i have hit the VR, only in a simulator at GG though. Compared to my club in the sim i hit it farther, felt nice, but it felt alittle heavier than my Machspeed. I love the tour head, much better than the 460 VR. I have a slower swing speed and battle a slice so i like the Machspeed because its lighter and more stable on off center hits.

For what its worth...I hit it 293 at 102 MPH with the Project X shaft. my friend who won the GG long drive (IN SIM) hit it 393. I Would love to hit it on the range though to be able to provide accurate info.

Plus i got it (MACHSPEED) dirt cheap because my friend won it in that Nike long Drive comp months ago.

Nice bag, how come you chose Nike?

I have never felt, wiieiy a Nike club but I may need to try the new VR Tour driver, have you hit it?

Because Nike makes a fantastic range of clubs from beginners to the best player in the world.

Cool setup Dubv for a beginner. I was very close to pulling the trigger on the Machspeed but opted for the Titleist D2 instead, nevertheless it's a cracking driver and surprised me at how easy it is to hit. Enjoy your golf good.gif

Nike ho here. Nike Slingshot OSS were my first real set of irons, and have been playing Nike ever since.

Nice bag too! You say you cant hit your 3 wood, I suggest trying a fairway wood with a smaller face, like the Bobby Jones ones. Your 3 wood looks like a driver, I wouldn't be surprised if low cappers had problems with it. Although I've never seen it in person, it just looks big.

thanks for all the kind words guys!

and about the 3 wood, i never really thought about it but it is fairly large. I mean its almost as big as my dads old school wilson driver. I think it was SS or something but it was small compared to what we have no but its close to my 3 wood. I love the 5 wood... i just thought i didnt have the swing or power to hit the 3 wood.

Another nike ho.

Although I've been rocking their CPR irons for going on about six years now.

I'll have to do my own WITB soon, but SQ Machspeed STR8-Fit recently replaced the Ti460 Nike driver from so many years ago. Play T40 Tour 3 and 5 wood, graphite in the 3 wood and steel in the 5 wood. Only thing not nike are my wedges - callaway forged.

Nice bag though man, enjoy the Machspeed.

    • Titleist GT drivers - 2024 the Memorial Tournament
Early in hand photos of the new GT2 models t the truck.  As soon as they show up on the range in player's bags we'll get some better from the top photos and hopefully some comparison photos against the last model.
