Playing Bethpage Black morning of the Belmont Stakes

A friend and I are making the trip out to Long Island for the Belmont on June 5th and want to combine it with a round at the Black that morning. Since we want to get to the Belmont sometime early in the afternoon, we would like to get one of the first slots in the morning. Anybody have a good guess as to what time we should get there Friday? I did a search and found most people say 5pm or so, but wasn't sure if it would be extra crowded because of the Belmont.

In all honesty.....I don't think you can do both...Belmont is a crazy place on stakes day. Just to go to the stakes you should plan on getting there by 11am. It's a zoo....major roads are congested like a 10 pack a day smokers lungs.

Thanks for the reply. Do you think it would be possible to get out Sunday if we went over after the Belmont? I'm guessing we wouldn't get to Bethpage until 8 or 9, so I know we wouldn't get one of the early times, but do you think we would get out by the early afternoon?

No guaranty that you'll get out on the Black, but there are four other courses at Bethpage and you'll get out on one of them. The Red is an excellent course. Similar to the Black but not as punishing. I know it doesn't have the cachet of the Black, but it will still make for a great day of Golf.

Yea that's kind of what I figured, thanks for the advice. Would showing up at 8 or 9 Saturday night make it like a 50-50 shot to get on the Black Sunday, or would it be a pretty big long-shot?

Why dont you register in the bethpage tee time system, It will allow you to make a tee time friday night since you are out of state. I would say that is your best bet.

I plan on doing that, but from everything I've read it seems really hard to get a tee time as a non-NY state resident, especially on a weekend. Is this not the case?

I played the black yesterday. We got there at nearly 7 pm Saturday night and had the first tee time on the black Sunday morning. We were in parking slot 3 and the other two groups were playing the red.

I don't know if last weekend was just slow or what but even when we were done there were tee times available for twosomes on the black.

One guy did mention that it gets more crowded after memorial day.

you'll have absolutely no problem getting on Black on Sunday if you show up Saturday at 8 or 9pm. especially if it's just the two of you. at worst, you may have to tee off at 1pm or so, but i wouldnt be shocked if you were out before 10am either.
