Review: Nike VR Tour 10.5 Project X

Background Info
I have a strong right hand grip and hit the ball long. Of course I fight the hook. My swing gets flat at times and I take it too far inside.

Review
I don’t know how they do it since they cannot increase the COR, but the Nike VR Tour is easily the longer and much nicer to look at of the 2 drivers. I gamed the Cobra last year, and even though it is 1.5* open, it hooks much more than the Nike.
Before this, my favorite drivers of all time were the 975d and the 510tp.

First Thoughts: The Nike inspires confidence because it doesn’t look like a hooking club—if that makes sense. It looks so open that my swing is different and consequently I hook less. With the cobra I had to focus on manipulating the clubhead and hitting up on the ball. With the Nike I can just swing much more like an iron or fw wood.

Ball flight: I hit the Nike VR tour much higher, but it cuts thru the wind. Seems like low spin high bombs.

Feel: VR TOUR feels like the old 510tp (with the speeder 757) or the 975d with the prolite shaft. Feels sweet. The COBRA feels harsh

Shaft Comparison- The whiteboard is stiffer since it is an X-stiff and the project x is only a 6.0. But I have a 6.5 coming. The project is a smoother shaft for me. I hit The Altus in my old Driver was a x tipped 1/2 inch so it played close to spec.

At the Course:
Of course, I hit many bombs and heard the words from a course member “that’s the longest drive I’ve ever seen on this hole.”

Ball flight: I hit a couple drives I thought were too high on the face—but they went 50 yards farther than I thought!

I have only played 4 times this year and not for a month, but I actually could work the ball with this driver. AGAIN, I would say that the way the head sets up, for me, inspires the confidence that I will not hook the hell out of the ball.
